I had a feeling 3.8GB was a little small for a game that all in all is 15GB+ in size. Seems I was right.

Updates are not 8GB.

First impressions:
CLASS SYSTEM!
- What the fuck, why are there so many guns? Half of them work identically with at least one other gun.
- Attachments should be what's unlockable, not the weapons. The unlockable weapons seem worse, so why bother?
- The game is relatively easy to play, despite the billions of customizations. I won most of my games without even trying (I even topped the charts in the last game I played). This, once again, makes me wonder why the weapons require unlocking if the starters are the best anyway.
- Perks are pretty cool. Not sure if I like the blue/red/yellow system...
- Death streak perk is really nice. I heard plenty of complaints about martyrdom in CoD4, this seems to ease that well.

GAMEPLAY!
- Like I said earlier, the game is pretty easy. You don't have to know the names as fluently as Inferno does (seriously, he lists the numbers like a physicist does quantum equations) to play the game well. Mouse1 does its job.
- FUCK, KNIVES. It makes buildings/vantage points completely and utterly useless when you have to look down the stairs more than the window you were planning to fire from. EDIT: Clarifying this point. The 1-hit kill is more annoying than the weapon's popular usage. I think the bigger problem is that you can't hear footsteps. There's no reason for that, given the surfaces you're running on most of the time. But that's a small problem in the world of sound, compared to below...
- Why are there so many unnecessary sounds being played so damn frequently? So many random bullet/explosion sounds makes it impossible to identify enemy locations. And before anyone asks, I don't mean like LOD sounds that play in the distance like most games (which makes sense when emulating a huge battle), I mean the sounds you expect your own weapons to make are played ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Having close sounds abused like that is just obnoxious. In fact, now that I think of it, are there even LOD sounds in this game?? Either it's all extremely close, or I don't hear it at all. Case in point: I almost never hear the gun that actually kills me. I dunno if it's just that everyone has silencers or something, it just feels weird with all those sounds noted above and never hearing the enemy's actual firing. So if I can't hear regular firing, what the fuck is being spammed through my speakers? It just makes it more annoying, really.
- I can't think of anything else right now, the sound system in this game just pisses me off too much. I'll try and add to this later.

You should be able to hear footsteps unless the player is crouching. Also once you unlock claymores(mines) you can put that in front of a ladder or stairway so you dont have to repeatedly check. Not sure whats going on with your sound but thats not how the game is supposed to work. I always hear the gun shooting at me and can tell what part of the map its coming from. Theres really not much ambient gun noises except for a few maps.

After a few more maps, it seems that the sounds I was getting before were likely just a result of clusterfuck gameplay on small maps/parts of maps. The global gunfire suddenly makes more sense now. I still can't hear footsteps and the gunfire is still difficult to locate (seriously, some of those rifles make a HUGE bang in your interface, but it doesn't make a peep 5 feet away. What's up with that?), even with decent headphones. It might just take some getting used to.

Also, lolololol throwing knife = free kill

I have 1000 kills with the USP.45. It's a good gun. It just takes skill to use.

Balance feedback is not bugging. A weapon being too overly powerful is not a bug. Most testers don't give feedback, they find bugs and make sure there's no game-breaking problems or anything hideous like menus or text overlapping or graphic corruption. You'll never see a bug in the database by a tester saying "This weapon is too strong" because it's a personal opinion. Any balance issues are IW's design choice, and ultimately their fault, not the testers.

I guarantee half of the testers absolutely hated the game by the time it came out.

I tried it...I really think it's horrible. After about 5 rounds I couldn't do anymore. Enemies could call in more than one heli + jet/whatever else at a time, there was a clan stack, there were 2 games where everyone lagged horrible and the host dominated, and grenade launchers were annoying as hell. Also kind of hate how the knife got a huge lunge range. In another one the host made it super low grav, then froze everyone in the sever until we all left.

Seconding Needles's perks complaint. I actually noticed this before I actually played it: once you get one perk, you're pretty much guaranteed the other two (assuming you don't have the nuke enabled, obviously). Rewarding those players with kill streaks is weird, as it just gets them more kills. Sounds nice for the user, but it's bullshit when you're about to capture a point, only to get hit with a missile, then the resulting copter, then the copter again because they're spawn killing, and so on.

Also, the game handles lag hilariously. You know how videos might stop for like, 2-3 seconds, but the audio is still going? Then the video speeds up REALLY fast to catch up? That's how it works.

I actually quite enjoyed playing this. No dedis sucks, but it's still much more responsive than Halo, which is something every game can aspire to.

The USP is just fine in MW2, the firecap nerf was really needed in both games. There's no reason you should be able to shoot a pistol/sniper faster than a p90 on full auto.
