IMO it looks a little early to say that Steam is coming to Linux, there were so many false calls that until a proper leak of the client comes along then we won't be certain. Still hope its coming though....:woop:

Valve Corporation on Monday will apparently be rolling out the new user-interface to all Steam users that has been in development for sometime

oh...

Anyways I don't see the point of it going to linux as most of the games wouldn't run anyway.

*shrug* there's nothing wrong with the games Valve and id make, and the indie games like Machinarium and World Of Goo.

The VALVe games would...at least that's the intention. If a major player starts developing with native-Linux runtime ports in mind, then we can expect other developers to start slowly jumping on the bandwagon when they figure out that they can rake in more profit by not having to pay royalties to Microsoft for DirectX. It'll still be slow to start, but it will be a significant jump over where gaming stands in the Linux community.

Isn't MacOSX just a heavily modified Linux Distrobution anyways?

BSD, actually. It's a different kernel from Linux. Still Unix-based, but not Linux.

Which is why they can repackage it and sell it for $200 more than it's worth. :)

It's funny, actually. Windows is the odd-man-out, as it's the only major operating system that is not Unix-based. However, it holds the majority of consumer market share, and I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say it has more than a fair share of the professional market share as well.
