I'm sure that there are a bunch of new people around these parts, but I'd just like to give a shout-out to all the "old-school folks" (I can really say that now!) that might remember me!
Life has been crazy. I signed off last summer before I started college here in Nebraska and haven't been back since. My birthday was on the 18th and I received a nice little email from Modacity (and Gearbox! OLD!) that sparked my interest to how the community was doing as a whole. I'm currently pursuing a Management in Information Systems major and double minoring in Economics and Political Sciences (with a focus on International Relations). I rushed Greek since my high school graduation and now a full member of Delta Tau Delta, Beta Tau chapter. Partying in college is a much more social aspect than any sort of high school "rebellious" partying. It's been a fantastic freshman year and I'm currently studying for four finals I have later on this week. I really want to turn around my grades/GPA, since I back in high school I basically did the bare minimum. I'm at a 3.7 cumulative (before finals, haha) and am hoping to stay on the Dean's List for all the years I am here. I have been actively involved with different community service organizations on campus. It truly has a heart-warming aspect to helping people out and looks stellar on a resume!
I recently received conformation that I was selected for a program called Kefiada, where I will be traveling to Israel and working at a camp up by the Lebanese border, teaching English to kids in the camp for four weeks. I am actually flying out two weeks early to hike from the very southern tip of Israel to (at least) Tel Aviv, just using hitchhiking, public transportation, and my own two legs. Two other kids doing the program with me are going to be hiking along, so I am training to make sure I'll be able to handle the trek. After the program, I will be flying back to Washington D.C. to house sit for my sister and bother-in-law, allowing me to get some relaxation before I head back to school the next week.
Anyway, this has turned into a wall of text (sorry!) and I'm sure that not many people will care, but I still care about this community and figure I might as well give an update! :-)
tldr: Old member remembered Modacity, gave an update on his life, and wanted to give a shoutout to everyone he knew.
Bod: I have stories. Don't worry. ;-)
