I train 5 pokemon and keep 1 HM slave then I use a legendary bird at the elite four to replace the HM slave.
Works fine. I remember there is a nice rom hack somewhere that makes all HM moves items instead of moves so you don't have to teach them to your pokemon. Since all of the HM's suck except for surf.

When you have a shitton of HMs that only one type can use (fuck you sapphire) it kind of limits you.

I probably could have beaten Heartgold in half the time if it didn't require those stupid HMs. Aggravating as all get out with so many. WHO CREATED ROCK CLIMB AND WHIRLPOOL SERIOUSLY I'MMA PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE. You wind up having to keep the HM'ed poketmonsters around because you cant get around without them. :ugh:
