So I recently started playing Xbox 360 alot more than I used to because my friends wanted me to, and my brother stopped whoring it, but I did horribad most of the time due to the lack of keyboard and mouse support.

so Instead of shelling out 90$ for the XFPS 4.0 Speed, or 150$ for an XIM2, I decided to buy the following:

Smartjoy Frag PS2 (Ps2 Keyboard and Mouse adapter)
Two usb to Ps/2 adapters
A PS2 To Xbox 360 Adaptor (Requires Wired Xbox 360 controller)

I have a wired 360 controller, its broken but should do the job, as its only needed to connect the adapter to it, then I can unplug it.

The other parts have not come in yet (I just got the smartjoy frag and one ps/2 adaptor today, I've been playing killzone on my ps2 for the time being, so far there is no lag whatsoever, just a bit of a delay when twitch aiming due to the lack of LOLHIGH sensitivity.

Its been quite fun the last few hours playing the ps2 with a keyboard and mouse.
I'll report back in a few days with how it works on 360 when I get the adapter.

The total cost for this was roughly 28$

Its going to be real unresponsive.

From what I've read, the ps2 to xbox 360 adaptor doesn't lag, and because the ps2 kb/m adaptor doesn't lag there shouldn't be a problem.

Make a video about it, I want to see this in action.

I will, should I do a video of it on the ps2 now?

Make a video of you playing Halo 3, ODST, or Reach and I'll be interested.

I will when I get the Ps2 to 360 adaptor.

Just wire it yourself :v:

I don't have the ability to program it though, its not that simple, you have to have it "latch" onto a wired 360 controller, then convert the inputs.

bump, I just got the ps2 to 360 controller adaptor (also works for ps3 :D) and it rocks!

yeah, I would love a video and a drawing because I cant think right now so I have no idea how you have this connected...brain fart, ya know?

It connects like this:
mouse /keyboard -> usb to ps/2 adaptor -> Ps2 Smartjoy Frag -> ps2 to 360 controller adaptor -> xbox 360

Sounds incredibly stupid, and potentially laggy, but runs well, theres a little bit of lag (maybe a tiny bit more lag than h2v) but it is wonderfullly better than controller.

update: after playing about 20 games or so earlier, I can honestly say I play alot better than with the controller.
Also the adaptor I bought has a couple extra functions too.

Ps2 -> ps3 controller adaptor
Xbox 360 -> Ps3 controller adaptor.

Hahaha.
I'll have to get my dads camera to record soon.
Also 0% lag with mw2, but lag with halo 3.

Halo 3 appereantly has a tiny bit of input lag, whereas mw2 does not.
:o

Probably just Halo 3 being its 30 FPS self.

the ridiculously loud music at the beginning was irritating, but that is awesome. can you make a video of it with mw2 or cod4 or something?

also, can you type messages with the keyboard? like when sending messages on the xbox dashboard, do you still have to select each letter one by one, or can you just use the keyboard?
E: also, if i were to plug a working wired 360 controller into that thing you show at the beginning, could i switch to the controller at any given point in time?
E2: staticcharger, that youtube link was working fine for me before you posted :|

You can type messages with a keyboard, if it is plugged in directly to the xbox 360.

You can switch to the Xbox 360 Controller at any time.

Oh really? I'm sorry never worked for me, but i found the video id from view source.

Just ordered the smartjoy frag, what ps2 to 360 adaptor did you use?

Pyong Kawaguchi

I used one I ordered from ebay, also in order to use usb mice and keyboards you need an adaptor, and to do the volt regulator mod.

This is the adaptor I got: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.33241

The volt regulator mod can be done with very simple soldering, or bending two pins together.

This video shows how to do the volt regulator mod: uk6tvblhUbQ
e: keep in mind this requires a wired 360 controller.

ok cool so whats the point of the volt reg mod? Is that only if I'm using USB adaptors, cuz I have a lazer ps2 mouse, and any keyboard will do.

Pyong Kawaguchi
June 6th, 2010, 06:59 PM
The volt reg mod changes the voltage from 3v (atleast I think its 3v, not sure) to 5v to support USB based laser mice and high power usb keyboards.

staticchanger

thats odd since as far as I know ps/2, and usb both use 5v.

So basicly what you're doing is adding a transistor to amplify the signal to meet system requirements, correct?

You remove the volt regulator and bridge the two end joints to power it.
