Definitely fake.

Some people might try and argue that if you move fast enough your feet could push down on the water faster than you would sink into it, but there just isn't enough surface area on the feet for that to work.

It works if you mix in corn starch

I could see this working if the shoes had a large enough surface area... but then you couldn't move fast enough.

They're probably using a clear floating mat. I've used something similar; it was a long roll of thin rubber or plastic in a pool and if you ran fast enough you could stay up, but as soon as you stopped it would collapse.

What I posted for this video on reddit...

They filled an entire lake with non-Newtonian liquid cornstarch...
No, they just put blocks in the water. There's not surface tension while they're running, and their feet always go down ~ four inches. That, and they always fall in, in the same place.

I think it's a sheet, not blocks.
0:48 scene you can see it

the surface area required decreases as speed increases. run faster dammit.

PS: thanks for ruining that too. i was all excited...

We're all children of Jesus, who walked on water, so this obviously can't be fake :downs:

:ugh:

Good point. Didn't the Mythbusters try something like this already?

The average human wouldn't be able to run that fast.

Notice how they're all wearing the same brand stuff? It's a viral ad.

Also, plexiglas ramp in the water. Refractive index makes it match up with the water.

God damn it I didn't even notice it. But now that you say it its totally obvious

E: That pisses me off. Both the viral ad and that I fell for it.

That was brilliant. Watched the video, thought it was awesome, realized from the comments it was fake. That is a textbook viral ad, beautifully done. I have to hand it to the ad team.
