I just got an ASUS k60 for college and am new to windows 7. There's a number of things that annoy me, and one that's just down right stupid. First, libraries. I don't want things that store categories of my stuff, I want them to actually be my stuff. Makes it nigh impossible to copy files over.
Second, when copying files from one area to another, and win7 detects they're the same, there's only the skip and cancel option. Sometimes I just want to overwrite ALL files just because. (without deleting the files first)
The start menu is annoying but for now there's nothing too bad with it.
Other quirks that are annoying post here. Also, tips and new shortcuts, add here?

I think you can use the classic Start menu (link to do that (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/2227/get-the-classic-start-menu-in-windows-7/))
There is an option to overwrite files or merge files, could you give a screenshot of the one that you get
I got used to the Libraries it was actually nice to have Movies/Documents/Videos separated but still accessible in one place, maybe you'll get used to it too.
Explore the properties of the taskbar, you might be able to change some things to your liking.

If you don't like libraries, don't use them? You should be able to paste something into a library, I do all the time.

Not sure why this is happening , I always get asked to either skip, overwrite or keep both files (with one renamed).

Libraries save to the folders in your user folder by default. If you save something to the music library it will be in C:\Users\username\Music
Don't use them if you don't like them. I don't.
Something wrong with you copy actions, you should get this

As said, explore the properties of the taskbar and start menu and see if you can change things you don't like.
there are a lot of win+keyboard shortcuts. Google them win+shift+arrows moves stuff to a different screen, or win+arrow moves it around on its current screen. win+(0-9) will bring up the window corresponding to its position on the taskbar.

Libaries are merely labels to help easily keep folders categorised.
Case in point. Libraries\Documents is actually just C:\Users\*username*\Documents

Shuttup lmtd. For whatever reason that window popped up but only the buttons of skip and cancel showed up. Apparently that glitch is gone now after I finished copying 19 gigs of music.

Just got a new work computer with win7, i like it so far. no problems though customizing the desktop is kind of a pain.
when ever i drag and drop it always leaves a copy in the original location, just a minor irritation.

i love libraries since i keep all my music/vids/pics/docs on a separate drive, so all i have to do is set the libraries to point to those folders.
also never had any issue copying or overwriting anything to the libraries.
