View Full Version : I'm worried about my kitty.

My cat has been totally unsocial for the past week and has been trying to go to the bathroom. I thought it was constipation, but now I'm convinced that it's a peeing problem because I checked and i saw a drip of urine with something that looks red. I'm taking it that the red is blood. My mom wan't to set up an appointment tomorrow for monday but I have a feeling he won't make it. I can't imagine going camping this weekend while thinking about how my cat is doing. I wish I can convince my mom to bring him in tomorrow instead of monday. Do you guy's think it's kidney failure or just some blockage problems? He's about a 8-9 year old persian. But I guess that's old for those type of cats. :smith:

Urinary tract infection/kidney stone most likely? I doubt the cat will die. As long as he's still walking, he's fine until the vet appointment.

Looks like you and your kitty need to have a serious talk mate.

Well your doubt is wrong today as it turned out to be one of the most saddest days of my life. I looked into my best friends eyes as he slowly fell into his deep sleep. I was really hoping this wouldn't of happened but a $2,000 bill is not something we can afford for a cat. And the fact that it will come back in probably a month or a year. I rather not let my best friend suffer. God damn...typing this is making me cry again.

I remember when my dog passed away two years ago it was incredibly sad, but remember all pets go to a better place.
I hope you feel better soon.

I think I'm going to create a photo album. It's just really sad being by your best friend and looking into there eyes while they fall into the deep sleep and then a few seconds later they die and you leave the room while his body is laying there on the table. He's just the best damn cat I've ever had and also the best damn friend. Life is precious and it's sad to see it go away.

So you had him euthanized? That sucks. Sorry.

Sorry for your loss mate. I really do feel for you. Coja, I think the cat passed...unless I read it wrong. I don't think it was euthanasia.

aww that sucks dude. mine died last year, he was 21. he had kidney and GI problems too. it's pretty fucked up feeling when he did the "death stretch" in my arms. no one in the house could look at each other. but, like i thought then i'll tell you, it's better than the suffering. the treatments can make them sick too. it's better this way.

Dang, 21 years old? That's a long time. It's too bad persians have such low life spands. I really loved that cat and he loved no one else more than me. I wish he could of lived until 21 instead of 8. But I'm glad that I was able to hold him for the last 15 minutes and then put him on the table look at him eye to eye. For him to see me as his last sight. Thanks for the support guys.

My cat was born on the same say as me... died a week before my 16th bday. Wish she was still here... :(

My cat was born three years ago, and he was the spazziest yet the awesomest cat ever. He had puked something up and stopped eating, but for less than 30 hours. I walked into my mom's room to find him there, sleeping like a normal cat. I went to touch him. He was rigid. My heart sank.
I know what it's like man, seeing as in the past 3-4 years I've lost three or four cats, and over 20 of our cats that have been born in our family leave one day and don't come back.
I feel sorry for you. But remember, he's not suffering anymore. He's fine. That body isn't him anymore. That's just a cat's body.

Just so you know, your cat is now cat food.

Also, that cat food is probably what made your cat, cat food.

The moar you know.

Why the fuck would you post something like that. Usually sites that are setup like that are just douchebags who only want to make money. If you think that was funny, go to fucking hell.

Oh man, I'm so sorry about your cat. We had to put my dog down because he got cancer in the same spot on his leg twice and didn't have enough skin to stitch it up.
But I love cats too, and have had a few get hit by a car. I feel for you :(

And yeah, dick move texra. I can tell you don't have many emotions inside and probably are a very problematic person.

Just thought i'd clear this up as I looked in my CP for the first time in ever, and realized people thought that was actually a joke. A bit harsh, but meant to be more informative.

That website, was shown to us by our vet, after my mums cat had a tumour cut off its' belly.

Everything on that page, is real. Yes there is a guy trying to sell his books, but the information is real and valid. Don't feed your cat cat food. Because literally, if they die, and the vet takes the body, that's where it goes. Not ALL THE TIME, but it does earn them a bit of money for nothing. Alot of them do it.

You wonder where all the local roadkill ends up? the euthanised pets? The strays?

Pet food. They throw them into the big vat, with the collars, chains everything. The chemicals used to break down the fur and bones and whatever else stay in the mix, and is there right as your animal is chowing down. They like the taste because it's so salty and yummy. Cat's have a shitass sense of smell so they don't sense the danger.

Dogs, however, don't eat certain canned food. Some isn't as vile as others, and is purely made from offcuts and scraps from meat plants, rather than dead fucking animals. It's still a bit nasty, but it's not really going to upset your pet too much.

When your pet food says "no added preservatives, chemicals, blah blah" what they mean is, no added on the front companies end (Pal, Chum, Pedigree etc), after they've received the "Meat Meal" from the producers. They add their special mix of veggies, bacon bits and whatever else to make it "gourmet" but really, it's still made of that horrible fucking meat meal.

When your pet turns their nose at canned food, even if they're fucking starving, you know why. They can smell all the shit in it.

That jelly? That spongey jelly in the pet food? Guess what that is.

Save your animals, feed them scraps of dinner or get chicken necks or something from your local butcher. What my mum does is whenever she cooks pasta, casseroles and lasagna type things, like solid big meals, she just gets a big pot and mixes in all the left overs and pops it in the oven. adds some more veggies and ham. Pet's love that shit way more, because they know YOU eat it, and it is real food. They figure if they're master eats it' its good for you. Again, the reason they pester you while your eating. They want the good shit.

Sorry for being a cunt about it, but that's the hard truth.

Actually no it isn't :)

Ignore Sirius he's a conspiracy theorist who believes everything he reads on the internet, especially when the site looks like it's been ripped from Geocities circa 1995.

:/

No seriously. This was given to us by a fucking vet. The town my mum lives in, and where the cat got check up, is called Casino. This is the same town zilla lives in.

We have one of the most successful meat processing plants in all of Australia, in that town. The vet told us that he himself, has turned in animals to the local meatworks before. It's known fact the council goes around collecting roadkill and taking it to the meatworks.

That's just a small local level situation. That's not even the city.

Maybe if the website was better designed you would read it?

I thought you were sharper than that CN :/ I mean, you replied to a post, saying it was conspiracy and don't listen. Isn't that a little heavy handed? I don't really understand. A Vet told me this, my coworker who is studying animal care and preservation at university confirmed this stuff. My mums old boyfriend who used to work at the meatworks wouldn't feed his pomeranian canned food, and he himself became a vegetarian.

Like, I can understand how a UFO is a conspiracy, but how is pet food being nasty a conspiracy? Even just looking at the rate in kidney failure in animals within the past 20 years confirms it.

I didn't even mention the fact that pet food contains aborted/early cow fetuses.

Maybe I need to go talk to someone who isn't a professional in the field next time.

I guess local vets have some sort of vested interest in telling people these lies to make them support local butchers and businesses by buying their sweet expensive golden chicken necks! Then they get interest on all the chicken necks sold!

MY GOD YOU HELPED ME FIND THE REAL CONSPIRACY CAUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR ONE AND YAY. It's not the meat processing plants and hte big pet food companies at all, it's the dodgy local veterinarians! Dam scammers.

Next time we get a tumour cut off the cat, I'll make sure he knows I think he's full of shit.

Sirius who gives a fuck if its real? Real or not now is an insensitive time to bring it up. Also your a moron for having it done at the vet, why not get the vet to have it done at your house, which you then bury the body.

Bad times Kingfisher =\. Ive had cats from kittens in the past, grew old and died, its hard.

While he delivered it with all the tact of a fucking atom bomb, Dane is right in at least some way. I can't speak for pet food companies, but I do recall that one of the possible sources of mad cow was thought to be the pelleted food that is used to get livestock to build muscle so quickly. It turned out that at least some of this stuff was taken from a processing plant in India where they were literally fishing human bodies out of the Ganges (a traditional way of sending the dead off is to float them down the river, yet another reason you want to steer clear of the place) and grinding them up. The practice of feeding animals which are naturally herbivores ground-up meat products is actually very common right across the world and it leaves them wide open for this sort of thing.

Again, I wouldn't know if something even vaguely similar holds true for pet food, but Dane's not as far wrong on this as you guys might suspect. There's a Purina plant out at Blayney but I've never actually been inside it, so what they do there is a mystery to me.

To get back on topic and away from that wonderful little derail (seriously Dane, that could've waited), I know how you feel. I've lost a few pets (mostly to old age or complications during birth for the alpacas), and it sucks. You'll be alright, though - just be glad that you made an animal's life a good one.
