For some reason some geometry isn't rendering on the screen, although if I mess around with the geometry it displays correctly.

As you can see it is missing.

But the geometry is present and you can see on the wire frame..

1, turn on isoline display on your turbosmooth.
2, reset Xform
3, hit F2
4, set turbosmooth to lower iterations.

there's 4 common solutions to things which can cause these problems.

also, there's no point in making a 'highres' if you're going to make your edges SO tight, they're less than HALF A PIXEL if you'd render them in a normalmap.
loosen up those edges.

Turn off adaptive degradation

Turn off adaptive degradation

That only makes the whole model disapear when he moves it.

Do what Paladin said and turn off backface cull.

Holy hell that's a lot of redundant geometry.

Oh, and yes -- disable backface culling (that or flip the normals... depending on which side of that tube is supposed to be "out").

Polygons are only opaque from one side -- from the back they're entirely transparent (if you cull backfaces).

All faces are facing the screen. No backfaces are visible. Did everything you said Neuro and didnt work. If I edit the geometry a bit it appearers again, e.g. click retrangulate. But then once I move the camera a bit it disapeares :/

Delete object?

using max 9, this happens to me sometimes. mostly on small objects if i try to get close, or very large objects trying to get close. zoom extents and zoom in using the zoom tool then scroll in the rest of the way. sounds weird but works.
