Holy shit you guys. Yesterday I signed all the paperwork. I now own my first house.

It's a one-story ground-level townhome with crawlspace and attic. Three bedrooms, two full baths, utility room with washer/dryer, Living area with adjacent dining area, newly renovated kitchen. Only problems with it are the windows and the front door frame; it's got the original windows from when it was built in 1970 and they need to be replaced, and the frame around the front door is cracked and needs new weather stripping. Other than that, it's in fantastic shape.

I'll start painting tonight. In the meantime, here are some pics (apologies for the shitty quality):

If I post an exterior shot it will be trivially easy to deduce my address, as the buildings are somewhat distinctive.

What's the worst that will happen if we find you? A vaguely threatening sign? ;)

But seriously, that's a solid looking house. What do you need all those bedrooms/bathrooms for though? Is it a fixer-upper?

Damn, I wish I owned it. It would be an awesome place to remodel. The house alone is fantastic, but imagine what can happen with a little elbow grease. Congratulations, sir! Happy Homeownership!

I have two roommates who pay me rent. It's great as-is, but I'm still gonna keep working on it to make it even better.

1. congrats.
2. hopefully no HOA.
3. painting sucks.
4. hope you got a fixed rate mortgage.
5. those sliding side windows suck energy. replace with double or triple pain. recoup energy loss in first year alone.
6. have fun buddy.
edit:7. i see you have central air. don't set the temp too low or the compressor will run overtime and die early. i know it's hot, but if you're looking to save cost, set it at 80 (dehumidify), and buy a window unit for sleeping.
double edit:^ I just realized I'm the type of person who walks around in shorts and sandles in 10f degree weather. disregard previous statement, as i suck cocks.

1. congrats. thanks.
2. hopefully no HOA. Has an expensive HOA. Comes with a large park-type area private to the neighborhood, which is very rare this close to campus (where every square foot of space is precious). Also a pool, also they pay for water and sewage, and they handle all the exterior and structural maintenance.
3. painting sucks. I disagree. I'm having a blast repainting. Pics once I'm done.
4. hope you got a fixed rate mortgage. Long story short, I have a cosigner who wants off the loan asap, which means I'm refinancing soon anyway, so I got adjustable.
5. those sliding side windows suck energy. replace with double or triple pain. recoup energy loss in first year alone. They're actually double pane with additional storm windows, but yes, they suck balls as well as energy. I'm replacing them as soon as I can afford to.
6. have fun buddy. thanks again, I will

Actually, I don't have any air conditioning- that thermostat is just for the furnace- but the furnace is decades old and will need replacing soon, so again when I have money I will replace it and install central air at the same time.

@eveybody else: Thanks, I'm very happy with this purchase. Y'all are all invited to come over and hang out sometime.

Is it all going to be that color or is it gonna vary from room to room?

Holy shit. Your walls and the accent wall in my bedroom are the same exact color!
(doesn't look quite like it because it's night time so I had to have my ugly overhead light on, it's less yellow, and a bit darker, obviously)

I approve of your colour choice. Not a lot of people have the balls to paint their walls dark or "odd" colours. Props to you, it will look SOOOOO classy when it's all furnished.

I wish whoever'd painted this house hadn't had any balls, this (http://www.majhost.com/gallery/TalonX/randomstuff/not_pictured_-_all_the_dust.jpg) is a terrible colour.

Vibrant colours are cool, dark are not.

the problem is just light reflection, dark pained house's always feel like dungeons.
nice looking dungeons it's just low light levels ya know :/

For about 5 minutes it was gorgeous with my couches, bookshelves, art, TV, plants, and tables in the living room. Then I moved the rest of my shit in... now there's boxes all over the place. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks until I've got my new cabinets and shelves installed so I can organize my crap and then show pics of what it looks like furnished. Until then, you'll have to take my word for it that it looks hella classy.
