So this past week was Modacity's 4th birthday, but in light of that, I doubt it will see a 5th. So to this I say goodbye. Been a fun ride, with memories like Podacity, Gamenights, and many others here, but during the last few months Modacity has been going downhill. Senior members have been either quitting or being banned, including the only members left who really contributed content. This site has turned into a sort of clone of /v/, and many of the members who were actually serious about this are no longer here. Modacity also is not really bringing in content either that constitutes a modding community. Other than a couple HCE maps, we have nothing. This site has long seen it's last breaths, and really I see no reason to stay.

Alas another factor into me quitting is the recent trolling Inferno was able to do and get away with without a ban for several days. For clarification, here are his own words:

Honestly, nowadays I don't really take things seriously with the two forums (here and GBX) as I did in CE's heyday. I just try to enjoy the forums and look at the positive side of things. I just if I see something interesting and take it from there. Those who I had fun posting/playing/talking with I most likely keep in touch with nowadays. Sad to see you go, hopefully we'll see you down the road.

Con infract'd two of the shitpost threads made by EM's account. I saw he made more and seeing as how this is EM's 3rd or 4th account here on this forum I thought he should know better and should have a strike for every shitpost thread he made for all the All your base meme. All of the points tallied up to a perma ban. Good riddance to Inferno. I don't see what he thought he was accomplishing by hijacking his account other than to get EM banned yet again, but then he admits to hijacking it so it ends up being nothing but a small inconvenience to EM. I'm leaving the account banned until EM can figure out how not to get hijacked again or an admin takes care of it.

The silly thing is that two of our section moderators are in some way serving a punishment: Sel is in detention and Inferno is banned.

As far as your account goes: if you're that serious about not coming here, don't sign in or come here. I don't see why a mod needs to ban people's accounts for people who post a good bye thread, especially when they basically say they'll come back if things don't go full south. While we're on the topic, everyone realizes there are blogs for your account right?

I can understand it for things like youtube/funny pictures, but for articles, it's really a bad idea. Let's lax some rules and see what happens. Hopefully when Reach comes out this forum can come alive again. I really enjoy this place myself, and am mostly a browser. The only thing that ticks me off is that i'm currently modding for source (I moved up from CE...) and I got no comments or anything about it, so I made a blog for it. This isn't even Mod-acity anymore, it's more of a train station.

In order for this site to become more active, we need to do something to either bring users in, or get our community more into things than just posting for the hell of it. We either need to focus and get ready for Reach, and promote the shit out of it (get us up there in Google searches, etc.), or we need to base this site on less things than it has now. There are many sub-forums I don't browse on here, because they don't have any posts on them worth looking at.

Either we get set for Reach, or we promote other games and engines to bring in members, and to get this place kick started back up.

Best post I've seen in a year. People will always do of one of the following things:

1. Continue trying to use available resources: quick-crit, studio, etc. Read posts. Comment using intelligence. Generally, enjoy themselves.
2. Shitpost, flame, post work and bitch over the critique. Basically, fuck all and make browsing and using the forum worse for others. Deceive themselves into thinking they're having fun by fucking around with other people.

Just don't take it seriously and you'll be fine here. The people in the second group need to stop with all the nonsense.

yeah it's kinda the reason i stepped down as a mod, just the drive and the fun of this site has been going down hill for a while, so just branch out and do other things and have a bit of fun.

it's more enjoyable to come here when it's not 99% of all your internet activity. just come and browse the things you like and post when you feel like posting.
