What's the point of having a separate dock when the Windows 7 taskbar doubles as a dock already?

I personally like my rocket dock, because it keeps the docked programs separate from my active windows.

I see, but still, it isn't all that hard to distinguish between open and unopened applications on the Windows 7 taskbar. Whatever works best for you is what matters, though.

The black part on the right is my 50" plasma. It's not set up next to my computer monitors or desk, but it's always connected to my PC, thus it always shows up on printscreens.

Note: there isn't really a black bar displayed on the bottom of my monitors. It added that to the screenshot because the TV is 1080p and the two monitors only have 1050 lines of vertical resolution.

It's not hard to crop the image to exclude the TV, thereby, removing the need for a black bar at the bottom of the image.

No, but it's not hard to ignore it either.

Anyone know of good wallpaper sources besides interfacelift and wallbase/wg/?

I certainly think so.

But now there is so little room for active windows. I personally don't like my active windows clumping under the program icons; I like to see exactly what I'm dealing with right now. The quick-use icons just seem better placed at a separate location.

If he removed the programs he doesn't use as often from the taskbar then he would have more room. Example: something like fraps doesn't need to be there, just pin it to your start menu.

ThePlague

All of those programs that are on my taskbar are the ones I use most. I have Fraps on all of the time, especially during Minecraft. Everything that's there just becomes active in the same place.

Well let fraps start minimized when your computer starts up. That's what I do. That way you won't even need a shortcut to it. Same can be said for Xfire.

Also, if those programs on the taskbar are the ones you use most often, then I don't see what the problem is with having that many icons on it. There is still room for a few unpinned programs to run. And honestly, it isn't that hard to distinguish a running program from a closed program even with that many icons.

its not about challenge or confusion, its about flooooow. It just flows better for me when I have everything separated.

Valid point. For me, though, I don't care. Flowing or not, it doesn't make any difference to me.
