So youtube has finally hit 1 billion subscribers,That's nearly one seventh of the planets population (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_population) who have a account at youtube.

YouTube is marking pretty big milestone. Users have now subscribed to YouTube channels and other users 1 billion times. The subscribe button, which was introduced in 2006, has proven crucial to the video site. Not really. It just means the subscription button has been clicked 1 billion times. One person can subscribe to many different channels and that counts towards the total.

^^ Yup.

Still, pretty cool though, I remember when I heard the idea of a video site, I said it wouldnt be popular because not many people had a way to upload, best people were gamers...Boy was I wrong.

That kind of shaves some of the awe off a little then, I thought subscribers they mean people who have subscribed to their website or services.

No they specifically stated in their article that it was just "number of 'SUBSCRIBE' button clicks". Personally, I never subscribe to anything, or friend anyone that I don't actually know.

I know i'm at least subscribed to 40 people, probably more. And that's just with one of my 4 (I think) accounts. Still pretty cool though.

Aka, Freelancer has 0 subscriptions.

I'm subbed to a few people, couple of modacity people, incase by the off change they make a video. I mainly use Youtube as a place to host my videos, so I can share with people on aim or on here, I really dont give a shit about 'the youtube community'

Subscribers: 174
Subscriptions: 2 (Joint Operations Calgary Airsoft, and Psyko Audio)

Sorry but you're wrong. I think exchanging subscriptions is pointless and stupid, and I have the same opinion about friend requests. I can't tell you how many random friend invites and shit I get.

338 subs bitches! Wait... I used to have like 400...

OT: YouTube should show statistics like Notch does for Minecraft.
