Crytek today revealed details about its first online FPS Warface and released first images. The military shooter in its near future setting offers a cinematic experience with next gen visuals, AI and physics based on Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE® 3 game development solution. Warface provides gamers with a constantly updated extensive PVE universe full of dramatic multiplayer co-op missions, a full set of class based PVP and will be available for PC. This new Crytek IP is especially dedicated to the Korean and other Asian markets and is co-produced by Crytek Seoul. Warface is supported by a free-to-play business model.

“Our passion is to always deliver the best gaming experience possible. That’s why we opened our Crytek Seoul office in 2008 which today enables us to offer a game that is tailored to suit its market. We’re excited to debut with Warface in South Korea and to deliver a compelling and truly unique experience soon.” said Cevat Yerli, CEO & President of Crytek.

“Crytek’s proven pedigree with its multi-award winning AAA FPS games combined with our own cutting-edge technology CryENGINE® 3 and our dedicated team of experts makes us confident Warface will revolutionize the genre and become the next generation in online FPS.” added Yohan Kim, Managing Director of Crytek Seoul.

Fuck my graphics card. Shit won't let me play Warface most likely only on low crappy settings.

Free to play business model..

Cash shop? Fuck no :/ I cant think of a single F2P game that doesn't have some sort of a cash shop.

And ad support. Hopefully they'll keep the ads out of the games itself (save for maybe billboards or something in the maps) and limit them to, at most, opening your browser after you quit the game.

I just hope they don't do something like castrate the game and then offer features back through the store. I had a friend that insisted I try out EverQuest 2 Extended (free to play), and they basically did that: you could only play certain races or classes by default, and unlock more by buying "class packs" from the online store. As if the limitation of playing on a single constantly-overloaded server with a crappy streaming client that lagged like hell wasn't bad enough.

Thats how most F2P games are right now. Theres this awesome MMO that just came out for the android devices (it might be on iphone too, that im not sure of) thats marketed as F2P, yet you can only play to level 18 and then you have to purchase additional levels and additions areas ingame to go to. How the hell can that be F2P if you cant make it past 18 and then theres nothing else to do because youve completely out leveled the other areas? They have a cash shop too but thank god all of the items are STRICTLY cosmetic changes as of right now.

Hopefully if this game does end up with a cash shop (I bet it will) it will only be cosmetic changes, like new skins for guns and what not.
