this is pretty sweet. If you own the XBLA version of Durandal, you can extract the textures and port them into the Aleph One engine's version of Durandal (http://source.bungie.org/index.php?title=Get_Marathon). Using a few plugins will also allow the HUD to work properly. It's a bit of a hassle to set up, but the results are.. well, fantastic.

instructions on how to do so here:

Also a bit off-topic, but to further complete the experience I'd also suggest messing with the config file to fix up the audio lag.

Treellama
The latency is set a little high because most people have crappy sound cards. But, the default 1024 samples at 44100 kHz puts it around 23 ms. I doubt you can hear that, but if you want to set it lower, and you have a decent sound card, you can by opening the preferences file in a text editor. Search for samples in the sound section. I think I could use 256 samples on my Audigy ZS. If it's still laggy after that, your operating system or sound card is buffering sound somewhere.

You can enable the experimental "Zero Restart Delay" checkbox if you want to hear more AR sounds. You'll want to turn the number of audio channels up as well.

too bad i dont have it on xbla, or id do this in a heartbeat. does it change the gameplay or missions at all, or is it purely visual?

This is just visual. The only real noticable difference between A1 and XBLA from an end user standpoint aside from the graphics is the 30 frame limit in A1, the weapon crosshairs, and a few effects. Aside from that it's the same game.

If you can, try using the XBLA Durandal demo and see if it works.

Durandal is such an awesome game. I'm stuck on one level though. It's becomes very very difficult after a set point and if you go by playing Halo-style then you will probably have little success.

It's the first one after the title screen with you staring down at Durandal's broken ship or whatever it is. It's where you get teleported to an Alien area and have to go through lava really fast and junk.

Oh, the one where you start off with two wste-m's and rape the fuck out of everything?

Yeah, that one's rough. I love playing that one just because of the first part. Once you manage to endure the BS of not having a health pickup for what seems like forever, you get a rocket launcher and I think some health too and everything is just peachy.

I was stuck on that one for the longest time too. Probably longer than the last level in the game.

That might be the level.

Do you know if you can play Marathon on PSP? I'm thinking about buying a PSP soon and if I can it'll probably be the first game I play on it since the price is still near $200.

The Aleph One engine was ported since it's open sourced, but since the engine's updated so often stuff became out of date and it's unplayable... at least on my phat. I think it's still being worked on. There's actually an active thread here: http://www.pfhorums.com/index.php?showtopic=5670&st=0

Far as PSPs, I definitely suggest a PSP AS LONG as you mod it. 1000 (phat), 2000 (slim), and 3000 (slim bright) are all moddable as far as I know, save for some later models of the 2000s. Fat has half the ram as the slim, I'd say go for the slim if you can. You'll need a Pandora battery (they're cheap) and a reasonably sized Magic Memory Stick. Download some files off the 'net and your shit's modable to fuck and back (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz673Y6yjLk).

That's sick! I'm waiting until PSP's drop around $100. $170 is still too much for me, but I definitely have several incentives to buy one (FF7: Crisis Core, FF: Dysidia, and KH:Birth by Sleep).
