Clipped the other two monitors off because they're just copies. Working on blending a couple similar images together into a trip-wide wallpaper.

I was going to post the same thing but I decided not to for some reason. Not too much point to it. Only a small handful of games work. The main Valve games usually work, though.

I never understood why people use skins...it just fucks up the system. I never use my desktop anyway, I have a rotating background so I know when 15 minutes pass. The rest is done by shortcuts or start.

Skins only mess up your computer if you install them incorrectly, if the design was bad and some bug messed up your system, or your system just can't handle it. I almost never look at my desktop so it's a waste to put gadgets and icons there, which explains why on my usual taskbar, I have 10-12 icons for things I use frequently. If there is any utility I need I pin it to the Start Menu. After that if I want to access a program I don't normally use, I hit the start button and start typing the name of it. Search in the Start Menu is fast and accurate, which I found surprising the first time I used 7.

Don't conform! Use Celsius :D

Warsaw
February 12th, 2011, 03:28 AM
Fahrenheit is more precise but Celsius (or Centigrade, as I was taught) is easier to remember and work with. I have mine set to the latter:

Farenheit FTW. Makes about as much sense as anything else lol.

Patrickssj6
February 12th, 2011, 09:32 PM
Celsius and all metric units are much better because they are consistent and interchangeable and have a base system with Greek/Latin prefixes.

Example:

1 Liter of Water = 1KG
1 cubic decimeter of Water = 1KG
1 cubic meter of Water = 1t

With that you can easily interchange everything.

Millimeter - Milli means "a thousands" so it's a thousands of a meter.
Kilometer - Kilo means "a thousand" so it's thousand meters.

Milli - Mikro - Nano - Piko

0° Celsius = Freezing Point of Water
100° Celsius = Boiling Point

4° Celsius of Water has the highest density. That's why beneath the ice the water is hoter which is essential for all life forms to survive in winter.

etc etc.

It is just so beautiful :iamafag:

TVTyrant

And what is the basis for all those measurements? I mean, the math makes more sense, but they have different origins too. The imperial system was based on ease of use in Britain's colonies. A foot and an inch are both extremely easy to estimate since they are based on parts of the human body. For someone living in the middle of nowhere, in a time where he might not have had measurement tools, dimensions are much easier than in metric because you simply put your foot down and you have a length thats applicable. An inch is the length of the first to second joints in your index finger. Yes it is variable, but it would have been easy to use at the time.
I like farenheit for its precision. Celsius covers a larger area of temperature per degree. Farenheit seems more diret to me. And I don't especially care about the soundness of celsius :smugoff:
The reason we haven't standardized is because we don't give a shit :realsmug:

Patrickssj6
February 12th, 2011, 10:18 PM
Well a foot is not really a foot :P

1 meter is roughly one step and we all have our body measurements (hands spread is 15cm etc.) as well. It's funny you use a German Physicist's system and we use a Swedish one :S

TVTyrant
February 12th, 2011, 10:43 PM
Oh definitely. My point is just that 200 years ago for Americans it was simply a more applicable system than metrics. And like I said, we live a continent away, so its never really mattered if we switched or not :P

Warsaw
February 13th, 2011, 04:12 AM
The Celsius scale is bigger, which is why I said Fahrenheit is more precise. That's also the reason engineers over here use degrees Rankine as opposed to Kelvins. That said, metric is far easier to work with, so I would just put up with decimal points.

Whoah that setup is ugly, especially how the start menu clashes with everything else and theres the left-over default icons which are very off-putting. Also very low res :C

There's no rule that says the image needs to be high-res, just as long as we can see it properly. I think the reason the colour of the taskbar looks off is because we're viewing it on a very bright background (modacity blue post box). I imagine it's not so bad with the dark bezel from the monitor as a border.
