Your roommate stays up till 4 am each day (minimum) You go to bed around 11-1 am and wake up early. They sleep until 3 pm. (holy I have no idea how anyone does that)
At what time do you stop respecting their sleep schedule?

I sound like your roommate. Though lately it's been 2am bed, wake up at 2pm.
Does he respect your sleep schedule? As in, being quiet when you're sleeping and such? If so, suck it up and respect his as well.

im not sure if i understand the problem. youre upset because he sleeps late? i dont see the problem if it isnt causing any problems for you.
E: oh is the issue that you have to be quiet and cant have anybody over because of his sleep schedule? because if thats the case, just ask him whats up, let him know you need to do stuff, and see if you guys cant come to a compromise. but i mean it doesnt even seem like an issue now. when i sleep late like that, if somebody accidentally wakes me up while doing something i cant really be too upset.
also youre in college, right? what the hell has that guy got for classes if hes sleeping until 3pm?

 Or any liberal arts degree. Seriously I'm an education major and I don't have to wake up until 3 :iamafag:

I'm an engineering major. However, I have on art class. That one, single class keeps me up past 3 AM regularly.

The USA starts work around 9 to 10. That's when you stop respecting their sleep schedule (albeit, not on purpose, eg BLASTING the stereo, but no tip-toeing around). It's not healthy to have that kind of schedule as your normal routine anyways, so if he bitches like a little bitch, tell him he's actually dreaming and this is his body's way of telling him to get with the program. Then throw a smoke bomb and magically disappear (to keep with the "you're dreaming" shenanigan)

idg what's so unhealthy about having a sleep cycle that's not in sync with everyone else's. Even when I used to be on a regular schedule I hated mornings (5-10am), between those times Im' always useless so my sleep schedule evolved into something more like 2-4am - 2pm.

'early' on a good day for me is 7:00-ish. Trying to make it to 6 am so I can feel good about myself (woooooo) But yeah, i've been leaving the door open to let in fresh air and stuff at 10-11 am if I'm stuck in the room... just wanted to get a feel for when we thought would be decent to stop tip-toeing around.

If he's making you miss lectures because you can't get a good nights sleep tell him to turn his shit down or keep quiet in the early hours. But in return keep quiet while he's sleeping.

Jeeze, my roommate does absolutely nothing on his free time alone in the room, so whenever I see him in our room during broad daylight (noon and all through the afternoon), he's sleeping his ass off instead of doing work. This in turn causes him to NEVER fall asleep during acceptable sleeping hours (1 am - 9am). I'm constantly kept up because of his tossing and turning, or his blatant oblivious TV watching, or by his shuffling around for when he actually decides to do hw at 4am :maddowns:.
Btw, I never believed in stereotypes, but he truly is the lazy fat white kid that just gets hammered every weekend.
And it infuriates me how he leaves his TV on 24/7, even when he's not watching it. He only watches Comedy Central too, which in my opinion is complete rubbish. The only two shows on there which involves intellect are The Daily Show and Colbert Report, both of which are the only shows he DOESN'T like on the channel. I swear he's like the most uncultured sack of poop you can find. The only things he does besides the occasional school work are 1.)getting wasted, 2.) rotting his brain with the tv, 3.) sleeping. Hell, I would prefer a hardcore COD player over him, at least they're somewhat tech savy to be able to get xbox live working on resnet.

its pretty easy to develop that sleep schedule if youre a person who likes to party and you have no responsibilities (that you care about). as long as he doesnt keep you up, i dont see why you should keep him up. if hes loud and wont shut up if you ask him to, then fuck it and do the same to him.

Meh that sucks, if it effects your work then you have to say something.
I had a housemate that really didnt want to socialise with us, stayed in his room alot chatting to his colombian girlfriend, was up to like 3am every night talking full volume on skype. Then when she stayed with us for a month they were having sex every other night real late which was so annnoying.

Around 10 or 11 is when I would stop caring. Don't be intentionally loud, but as mentioned before, don't go out of your way to stay super duper quiet.

The thing is he always sets an alarm to go off after an hour or two of sleep, which he NEVER wakes up to. And when he does, he hits the snooze button, and the next time it goes off, he doesn't wake up for another 20 min, then hits snooze again! So I have to deal with blaring Christian rock because he's too stupid to find another channel (he told me himself that he would prefer not to listen to Christian rock). I don't mind the silence during broad daylight, I just bust out my headset. But the late nights and blaring alarm really ticks me.
Btw, he does the same thing with snooze when his alarm goes off in the morning (he still sets it for 7:30am even though it's SO obvious that he won't get up, even I wouldn't). So I can't even sneak in a few more hours before I have to get up for my classes. I'm not saying I can't sleep with the slightest amount of noise, it's that he flat out leaves his alarm on even though he won't wake up for another 2 hours.

It's that kind of situation that would compel me to stock up on ice cubes, plenty of cold water and a big yellow bucket.
It seem's as though he feel's he can walk all over you and not have much hassle in return so do your self a favor, pour a bucket of cold water and ice on him if he leaves the alarm buzzing for more than 5 minutes.

I might do that at the end of the semester. I like it! Thank god I'm living in an apartment next year with 3 of my friends. I am a freshman right now so I was forced in this random doubles matching.
I've been having a strong urge to get a good nerf gun, keep it next to my pillow, and whenever this scenario happens I shoot him from across the room a few times.

have you mentioned it to him, or are you just bottling your rage at him?
dont start dumping ice water on this guy or shooting him with nerf darts until you ask him to stop with the alarm. if he doesnt, THEN its fair game.

I mentioned it once, last semester. I guess I'll wait for it to happen a few times again and tell him in more detail. Then I get the nerf gun.

yeah dude you cant just go shooting people before talking to them. just sit him down for a second and tell him its really bugging you.
But, if he doesnt listen, i recommend this http://www.amazon.com/Nerf-N-Strike-Vulcan-EBF-25-Blaster/dp/B0013U95U2
E: actually this (http://www.amazon.com/Nerf-N-Strike-Raider-Rapid-Blaster/dp/B003H9MSO2/ref=pd_sim_t_5) one would probably be easier to conceal.
