Bizarre internet craze 'planking' claims its first victim after man plunges from balcony to his death.

An Australian man has plunged to his death after taking part in a new internet craze known as 'planking.

Acton Beale, 20, fell from the balcony of a block of flats in Brisbane, Queensland, after he tried to 'plank' on some railing.

This is thought to be the first time someone has actually died from the growing craze in which people lie face down in unusual place before taking pictures and uploading them onto the internet.

Who the heck has ever heard of this 'craze' planking? I've never heard of it, maybe its not an English forte.

so i heard about this on the radio the day after i first saw this thread, and tbqh aside from this thread, i had never heard of it before it was on the radio. so no, not an internet craze. something tells me the next time i hear about this will be from my sister...

my job (woolworths) today came out with a special team meating specifically on this and how it's banned in the workforce.

8 people across australia in woolies has lost their jobs for planking, woolworths made the front page over it AND another guy is in hospital after trying to plank on the boot of a moving car.
