Dear Microsoft, please leave PC gaming alone. You have already shown us that you cannot be trusted with such things. We will get along just fine, thanks.
What that guy said.

We are proud to announce that with Windows 8, we are reintroducing Windows Live Gold for integrated user experience! We hope that our affordable service will help to bring the gaming community together on the PC like never before.

Fuck you Microsoft. The whole reason you ditched Gold was because PC gamers will NEVER pay to play online which was demonstrated through GFWL 2 years ago.

I like the UI and social aspects of the GFWL system but I won't pay to use them.

Microsoft has been saying this since before Windows Vista. (Live Anywhere, anyone? Oh yeah, that's right, they cancelled that.) The only effort they ever made was with GFWL, and they failed. Since then, they've repeatedly stated every few months that they are going to begin focusing on PC gaming. So, when is Microsoft going to actually start walking the walk? Why are they still delaying PC releases and making Xbox exclusives?
Hell, given Microsoft's lack of any effort, they'll probably "help PC gaming" by doing...

I think they are secretly trying to kill PC gaming. Shocker there.

It's apparent (to me) if you try to code directX apps with the new DX 11 etc, especially in C++ which they're trying to kill anyways.

True. If they killed PC gaming, then there would be no reason for anybody to retain the use of Windows anymore.
