So I hope none of you need to buy any hard drives soon.

The flooding in Thailand has effected a good chunk of all hard drive production, as such prices have skyrocketed.

Good thing I have 5.7 TB free right now!!

This thanksgiving a 500 GB HDD for $150 is going to be considered a good deal.

Welcome to 2004.

At least this makes Dell's and Apple's everyday HDD prices look reasonable! ($99 for 250 GB)

I found this out on the 24th, but still, fuck me for not buying sooner. I'm going to have to home refurbish one of my existing drives to install in my new PC :(

I was looking at that same chart earlier. Disgusting price hikes. I was hoping Newegg's Black Friday month sales would bring down HDD prices, but the sale prices are even higher than the original prices from 2 weeks ago. Oh well, looks like I'm gonna have to wait a few months for them to get production rolling again.

The 5,900 rpm 2TB Seagate drives I've been adding to my array were anywhere between $60 - $70 (constantly on a rolling sale here, usually $90). Now they're $169.99 haha.

Like I said though, I still have TONS of storage space.

HDD production isn't likely to get back on target for 6 months.
