Sometime last month or so, I modded marines into the level 'keyes' on halo pc.
I'm playing as an elite fighting marines, spartans and the flood.
But as soon as the cutscene involving the captain triggers, the game minimizes and says 'gathering exception data'. I don't know why.
Do you know how to fix this?

Sorry, I can't offer you much help then. I never messed around with PC all that much.
I can't remember, were there squads of Marines in Keyes originally or not? That might be the problem, maybe there is something wrong with the way the AI was implemented?

No, I imported the marines into that level. It worked on two betrayals, I don't know what's the issue with keyes.

Pretty sure the problems in that the cutscene shows you, and something to do with it rendering the wrong biped.
What is the level? the .map name i mean?

HMT modding is destructive to the integrity of the map, you should try CE and learn to use the HEK.

youre talking about the part where you punch the floodified captain's face and take the neural implants out, right? if im not mistaken, isnt there a sword elite that runs in at that part? i feel like the exception issue has something to do with the game trying to force an animation or something on your swapped out marines.
E: because the elites have the animations and other flags set to fit with that scripting, but the marines dont.

Do it with eschaton or ce... now would be a good time to start either. HMT is pretty much only good for bitmaps and models, not dependancy swapping/scenario editing/really most tag editing. If you want a good tag editing interface, Lethargy is pretty nice.

What is wrong with HMT? Why do everyone think eschaton is the best program used to mod Halo?

HMT is relatively simple and has very limited options. There isn't much you can do with HMT compared to using the HEK even if your a new user.
