View Full Version : Halo CE causing exception on startup

Alright, so Halo Custom Edition has started acting up on me for a few days. Whenever I try to run the game, it instantly causes and exception. I would post more data about it, but I'm not too sure where to find that.

I've tried reinstalling the game, but that didn't solve anything. The only recent changes that I can think of to my computer is that one of my memory sticks died on me the other day, and I had to take it out. I believe I also updated some video card drivers.

Any thoughts?

Probably a map you downloaded for CE. Try moving all custom maps out of the map folder and try running the game.

Yeah I tried that, and I didn't have any custom maps in there once I reinstalled the game either.

Try downgrading Internet Exploder.

Doesn't make any sense at all and it damn well shouldn't, but it worked for me once.

Derp, now I fixed it. I removed d3d9.dll and now it works. Problem is, doing so removes OpenSauce, which is not something I want to do.

Just go into Control Panel > Programs and Features > Installed Updates and remove all IE updates, and try to run CE with OS again.

Actually, I fixed the problem by doing a complete reinstall of everything again. Thanks for all the help!

Just go into Control Panel > Programs and Features > Installed Updates and remove all IE updates, and try to run CE with OS again.

That bug was fixed with the 1.09 update. No need to do that anymore.
