they cop a lot of general racism, and some misdirected flak which is intended for muslims. earlier this year on mandatory training (basically death by powerpoint to get stuff like suicide prevention and oh&s out of the way) someone wrote something like 'go home turbine fucker' (lol, turbine) because sikhs are allowed to not shave and wear their turbans despite the usual army grooming standards, still don't know who it was that wrote it but i could probably guess. you could tell the guy it was directed at was upset, but he was still really calm about it and didn't hold it against anyone, in contrast to the batallion oc who was apoplectic and looked like he wanted to hit someone. really nice guy, fuck the asshole that wrote it, he could stand to be a little more like the 'turbine fuckers' he hates so much.

it should also be noted that despite being generally nonviolent, sikhs believe in protecting any who are under threat from another group, not just protecting their own. they are also tremendously brave fighters and pretty much if you read through the list of indian recipients of the victoria cross and param vir chakra (india's equivalent award), probably close to 80-90% of them are sikhs. they're really cool dudes.
