Not sure if any of you guys have heard of this but my buddy is on their environment art team so I'm trying to help spread the word. Any who Chivalry is made by the same guys who did the mod "Age of Chivalry".
Chivalry is a "first-person slasher with a focus on multi-player. Featuring competitive online combat that seeks to capture the experience of truly being on a medieval battlefield." and having seen it in action it looks pretty great, both visually and game play wise, and includes lovely decapitation. It's due to be released very soon but they need some help and don't have any real publisher backing. So check out their kickstarter page, back them if you so feel, hopefully it sounds like something some of you may be interested in.

Could be real good. Slashers are really hit or miss though. I don't know, it looks a lot like they mixed CoD and Oblivion elements. My biggest gripe is how the guy can take like 5 hits from the sword and have that damned red marking in the middle of the HUD (like CoD and other FPS games). They should make it so that swords/blades are dangerous, but very blockable, while bludgeon weapons (maces, etc.) damage armor and destroy shields to make kills easier the longer the fight persists. Just my two cents though. For all I know, it could be very good.

Just spent like 2 hours straight playing this game (the beta). It is epic amounts of fun. And gory. The kickstarter ended but I seriously recommend it to anyone when it gets released.

Ah I had seen some of this, it looked really neat. Certainly beats the hell out of something like Skyrim's combat (although Skyrim can still be fun).
Is the beta open or invite-only?

woo more shameless promotion! Unfortunately beta keys were only handed out for those who backed them on kickstarter. The combat is pretty mechanically solid and you can have some really fun duels with people. Ping is definitely a major contributing factor in a game like this but as long as you're on a good server you'll do just fine. Release date is set for Oct. 16th. Here's their launch trailer

Tellin' ya this game is fun as hell and beats the hell out of War of the Roses.

The death animations look cool, but there's a delay between the killing strike and the animation and the blood looks weird, too.
I want to play this game. I hope there's a 3rd person view. I can't play a game like this if I can't see what's on the side of my characters. I learned that the hard way in M&B.

You're in luck, they support both first and third person.

Whoa whoa wait, what engine is this on? I want to say Unreal 3, but in some ways it actually looks like Witcher 2's REDEngine.

I'm gonna be live streaming some of this during extra-life today if anyone is interested in seeing what it's like. It may change later, but at this moment it's what I'm playing

Don't get me wrong in that this game looks really cool, but I'm already gonna be swamped with Halo 4 and AC3 when those both come out (plus down the drain in money) so I'll probably just wait for this to go on sale a bit for the Christmas Sale. December is probably when I'll get around to playing it anyway even if I bought it now.
But seriously, game looks pretty awesome.
