My specs aren't bad - Opteron 165 AMD Dual Core, Radeon x1900xtx 512 PCI-E, 550w PSU, 2 GB Corsair XMS - so why is my framerate so terrible in game? If there's nobody else around it'll be 40-60, but in combat, especially close range, I can't do anything but spam click and spam F in hopes of killing someone, because I can't really tell what's going on (ranges from 1 to about 15).

It's not only H2V, either. Even WC3 runs slowly. I downloaded the Vista drivers from ATI's site too.

I have an
AMD Athlon Mobile 2500+ (OC'd to 2.3 GHz)
ASUS A7V8X-X
BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC
1 GB of Corsair TwinX (XMS?)

I get like a constant 30 - 25 fps while in battle with maybe 3 guys but once I get around like 8 guys it drops to like 5 fps when I start shooting. This is in the SP.

Oh that's bad news for me...

I think you'll have to play in Medium settings (if you were playing on high)...

My resolution in game was at 1600x1200, I changed it to 1024x768. No difference in performance.

My graphics in game were set to high. I change them to low. No difference in performance.

hmm I have an athlon 64 x2 3800+, an x800GTO 256 pci/e, 1.5 gig ram, 550w psu, thats way worse than yours Faux, but H2V runs pretty good on my computer. Its smooth, and rarely dips below 25 fps, even in a heavy battle scene. It goes up to 75 fps. I'm on 1024x768, 4xaa, and medium graphics. And Im running windows vista ultimate, And using the latest vista drivers from ATI, so I don't know whats wrong. srry.

That means you're CPU "bottle-necked". Looks as though you're going to need to upgrade your CPU.

then why does my halo 2 run faster than other people's halo 2? Is my cpu better than his or what?

And I use the Vista 32 bit 7.4 drivers.

I have a 'mid-end' computer, my graphics card being an x1650xt. I get 40-70 fps (in MP) on high and medium. On low, I get a constant 60-70 fps, never lowering. It would probably be higher if I turned off v-sync.

It seems like different spec combinations result differently in H2V . Like it doesen't count are all your specs good or bad , just somekinda combination.. its weird :/
