Well after reading which map someone wanted i decided to start working on danger canyon. Still working on it. I have to redo shaders and smoothing groups. But the decals work. :)

Looks good for a start, these will all come out great as long as you put a lot of effort into them.
In that pic, though, it looks like that cam straight from a crappy HCE CMT map.

Good, though it looks like some of the geometry was distorted. If you look at the over hang of the top right tunnel, the surrounding doesn't look boxish.
Also, the edge of the platform looks distorted.

<_< obviously that's due to the lack of smoothing groups...there is a complete lack of hard edges atm

the thick black lines make it look cell shaded....really cartoony in my opinion

Honestly, Danger Canyon is just one of those maps that needs to be completely overhauled. The gameplay of it is good, but it probably could be made better with a few tweaks. The aesthetics of the map absolutely suck. The map's appearance is plain, dull, and is nothing compared to other maps.
Really, Arteen's map, Fragment, was sort of a remake of Danger Canyon. While it might not seem like it at a first glance, when you think about player's routes and how you navigate through the map, it is very close. THAT I would love to see put into H2V, but of course updates to show off what the engine has to offer.

If fragment was made a bit smaller (with the exception of the middle area), then sure.

I agree 100%. What made danger canyon such a fun map in H1 was the fact that it was designed so well, although it was never visually pleasing. I think it would look great with a forrunner(excuse my spelling ;)) twist to it :D

Well what ill do is make it like h1 and if anyone want to help me make it look like a forrunner facility.

I'd be happy to take the bsp and add some stuff to it to beautify it more for the engine. Someone would have to get it ingame though.

Danger canyon is forrunner architecture. I always loved the look and gameplay of DC. It feels like such a happy place like the first levels of a super mario game. I would like to see the old style look kept somewhat in tact but maybe add in higher res textures.

The bridge textures don't match with the map very well. I liked the first ones better. Or improving these will be nice too.

yea i too am realizing shaders = a bitch.. keep it up though, i think danger canyon h1 style would be cool, then a v2 custom would be sick..

Try running a good lightmap, instead of just using what appears to be Example's.
That causes the black lines.

I ran it on super and it still does that. And the bitmaps were obliviously from halo ce.
Lightning- IM- I have been convertering all halo 2 bitmaps from the xbox to h2v. I was told you may want them. 4 levels done.

Nice! I was just playing team KOTH on Danger Canyon the other day (Grinder Server) and I was astounded as to how much the terrain and scenery plays a role in the level. One thing that you should change (due to the lack of fall damage) is make the teleporter from the ridge to the bunker go both ways. This will also make any snipers have to relocate or watch their backs more carefully.

You should also try to use textures from Halo 2 or your own instead of the ones from Halo 1 (sorry if they are different textures). Also, if you have time, you could try adding more detail into the map itself such as the models and scenery. I understand that it might be hard and you might not want or be able to do it, but I find that the map would look better with those improvements. This is looking great so far though, and I hope to see this be successful, even though I won't be able to play it. Keep up the good work.
