I honestly feel kind of jipped that we didn't get these maps in H2V. Don't get me wrong I love District and Uplift, but they remade 2 of my favorite maps from Halo 1 and didn't include them in H2V. idk if anyone has these maps in the works for H2V or if Microsoft is planning on cashing in on us H2V players with another fee(I'm really hoping for the first one ;) custom map makers FTW) but I honestly hope these maps show up in H2V eventually.
please add your thoughts
for those of you who dont know what im talking about lol :P

I think CAD (AKA Leet/Feet) is going to make them both, I would love to see them in H2V.

Please to dear god fix teh spawns. I've played both those maps only like 5 times on matchmaking and I hated every second, most of the time you spawn in the middle of nowhere, and they removed the scale of the levels compared to H1 that they just don't feel the same at all. Please fix those and I will love you.

It's not really a matter of "fixing" a map, it's just how they decide to bring it in.

Well, we actually had to pay EXTRA for these on Xbox. They weren't included on the original disc.

Yeah, we are lucky we got the map pack maps to be honest, they didn't have to include them.

The bsp, yes, textures too, but they won't ever be able to get the things like the wind grav lift in until more tools are unlocked or more assets are provided.

That would be stealing.

If it went straight back into its own use?

If everybody purchased the map pack and converted the maps to Halo 2 Vista themselves, that would be perfectly legal; interoperability clause. However, redistributing copyrighted works (in part or as a whole) without consent, especially when they are still for sale, is quite illegal. Also, Halo 2 Xbox and Halo 2 Vista are, technically, two wholly separate products, so it would not be going "back into its own use".
The tags provided with the H2EK / HEK can be freely redistributed within the context of a map file because that was the license granted to you when you installed the tool kit. Taking tags, especially those that make a map unique (the sbsp and scnr), out of paid content map files and redistributing them for free (even if changed slightly) is not authorized under the license agreement made when the maps were purchased.

I had never said to do it, only the things you would have to acquire in order to get an authentic version of said map. I have purchased the map, though I am sure others have not. That is why I am not porting it over, talk to someone else about that.

Though I am aware you were making this a public statement, not entirely directed at me.

I would be happy with just Hang Em being ported as it is.

For its own use, such as in self-persuance. The person that rips it is using it solely for their own use. I know this.
I wasn't speaking in mass distribution terms, or perhaps to recieve a reply that had your long drawn out ways of contradicting someone.

Finally someone sees it logically... I've had countless IMs from people asking me to do it (and I don't even have Vista at the moment...) and I keep telling them that it's illegal... in the same way that porting District and (that other map) from H2V to H2X is.
They'll both be done though... you know that, I know that... it's only a matter of time. If the recreation authors were smart... they wouldn't put their name on it... anywhere.
