well i have been following both the tutorial in the help file for the halo editing program and a video version found here(more than 1 hour... found here (http://h2v.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=2145)) and i have successfully created a map, fulling into the game. but now when i try to use sapien on a new file i cant find any scenario files. this is making me mad, i even try to compile the .ass again and it still doesn't show up, is there something i am missing or is this a bug? i have tried reinstalling the editing tools, still no effect. even the same file i have compiled earlier is not showing up. whats going on? i saved it to C:\program files\microsoft games\halo 2 map editor\data\scenarios\multi\mylevel\structure\myle vel.ass and my "mylevel.max" is there too. i even try compiling the example, and still i cant open it in sapien...
i dont know any more info i can give you other than my specs
vista ultimate
amd 3800+ dual core
1.5gb ram
Nvidia 7600gt
and im using 3dsmax 8 with service pack 3.
any ideas?

Check in the directory :
tags\scenarios\multi\mylevel\
Instead of the data\scenarios\multi\mylevel\ folder. The tags folder is where the scenario should be located.

is that why my textures dont show up either??
(using the forerunner/industrial/metals folders, so i name it "f_im panel_i" but i get a compiling error)
would that fix that part?

What is your compiling error? The way you applied the material is correct, 100%, but see if everything works now.

can you help me import images? what i did was change the resolution of the picture to 512 x 512(multiple of 2) and i had it in the "halo 2 map editor\data\scenarios\bitmaps\forerunner\industria l\metals\grass.jpg"(i put it in that folder so the f_im wouldn't change in 3dsmax) then ran the bitmap converter it went through and said conversion successfull, now in the "halo 2 map editor\tags\scenarios\bitmaps\forerunner\industria l\metals\grass.bitmap" folder it shows up, but when in 3dsmax 8 the materials name was "f_im grass"
but when compiling it says cannot find, and in sapien they dont display
am i doing something wrong here?

The grass has to be a shader, not just a bitmap.

can you tell me what a shader is and if i am able to make one somehow?

A shader is what is used to make the bitmap show up, it compiles it with other bitmaps sometimes. Like cubemaps, normal maps, specular maps, etc. Go to new and shader, select a shader template, and have a blast. Any more questions about shaders, read up in the help file. I'm sure it talks about them.
