how much will a new graphics card. (one thats better then ATI Radeon x600) 1 gig of ram and windows vista basic cost?

Don't get basic... premium's just a bit away and is actually worth the upgrade from XP... unlike Basic.

A 1950XT AGP is going for around $130 now days. (guessing its AGP cause of the outdated card you have) 1 gig of ram is about $50-$70 for PC 3200. Vista Prem is about $120

$200-300 will get you a great graphics card.
