This Optimus Prime PC case mod is pure ownage, even more impressive than last year's Doom 3 case mod (http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/incredible-doom-3-case-mod). It can't actually transform into a fire truck (sorry fans) but parts of it can be removed for a "desktop mode," which is convenient since this beast stands 6 feet high with the legs on.

System specs:
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 125 lbs
Motherboard: EVGA nForce 680i SLI
Graphics cards: (2) GeForce 8800GTS OC
Case: Custom Built Optimus Prime Case
PSU: Enermax 1000W Power Supply
RAM: 2GB (Corsair XMS2 2x1GB RAM)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
HDDs: (2) Western Digital RaptorX 150GB

The waist even has a working 7" LCD as the "belt buckle." When the case was displayed at a creative case mod contest, the original 1986 Transformers movie was playing on it for good measure.

I want that, right now. I wonder how much it would cost...

It's an independent custom project, so it's not for sale.

Damn... The guy who made it should make more of them and sell them, he would make quite a bit of money.

that thing would look hideous in anyone's room.

except maybe someone who collected giant action figures.

I concur, it's not economic in any way.

massive, too big for my tastes

I'd buy it and then re-fit it to have it actually mobile, code it with some *I* and then have it battle evil people trying to steal my MHz.

Here's how this case could improve:

1. Actually transform into a truck. I don't think it's that hard, as long as the robot form is not too complicated and such. Then it would be pure ownage. The way in which the robot folds up into a truck does not have to be the same as the toy.

2. Put a speaker in the head that can greet you with Peter Cullen's voice (use soundbites from the series).

3. If the true transformation idea is too difficult, put motors in the limbs and program them to move like that Robosapien thing.

cool idea, but I don't like how cheap they made it look. I would rather have a big bomb/missile type case.

Someone made something like this, but made it into Bender from Futurama.

That's awsome. I could totaly fit my PC into that thing too. Exact same specs except processor and RAM.

Whoa Masters, you actually forked out the cash for TWO Geforce 8800 GTS's?

Yep, this awesome case just needs awesome specs like that to complement it. There is room for improvement though, i.e. movable limbs, a speaker in the head that recites soundbites from the old series, etc.

They should've put the disc tray in the groin area though, kinda like how it worked for Zeke, the x-bot in Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Ah, I remember seeing this at Quakecon. It's much more impressive when it's standing taller than you are :o
