Though it was about time to post this here. Pandemic is an instant messaging client I've been working for the past month. It features HTML-based messaging, chat rooms, file sending, avatars, pandemic:// weblinks for starting conversations, and of course, user accounts. Clients can be set up to interact with a specific server so Pandemic can be personalized for the workplace, in schools, etc (not that I think that will ever happen). The server is a simple Python script that directs messages from the clients and manages connections. File sending is done over an FTP server, the login information for which is provided by the server (this may be changed in a later version) Newly added in recent updates are both a single-file installer (added in 1.9) and automatic updates (added in 1.10). Future updates will fix bugs, improve performance and security, and add new features based on user feedback. Currently in the works are a WYSIWYG editor for messages, bbCode instead of HTML, and tons of other additions to help improve the client.

Could you get it to work with other IM programs like MSN and AIM? Sorta like trillian, but with less fail in the file transfer department.

Nice work, it's simple and utilitarian.
