I've had my notebook for a good while now, and the LCD is starting to show that it's dirty. How's the best way to clean them?

I have this weird cleaner. But mostly I just wipe it off with this micro fiber rag that I have.

I bought a couple containers of LCD wipe, you can get 'em at Staples or computer shops.

I just use wipes of glasses cleaner (I could think of no other way to put that so it made more sense).

I use a Zeiss Lens Cloth, they're good for just about any thing, you can even use them to clean the lens of a camra.

I just use a damp cloth, that works just fine. I'd recommend not using glass cleaner on an LCD screen, it could damage it.

Thought so Mr. I-didn't-pirate-Bioshock xD.
he didn't
Depending on the cleaner, some glass cleaners can damage the anti glare coatings on the screen. You'd need something pretty strong to do that though.

I use a damp paper towel and then follow up with a lint-free cloth myself.

I just wet the micro fiber cloth I got for my camera lenses to clean it, works perfectly.

I just aim away from the monitor, doesn't cause a problem. ;D

glass cleaner is abrassive and will damage your monitor.

I found some of those static cloth thingies in a computer hardware store :3. Might want to check your nearest one. According to my sister it's supposed to attract all the dirt or something o.O. I dunno how it works.

since when do we need a "special" way to clean lcd screens? i just spray the glass cleaner shit on it, then wipe it clean, and it's fressh n blinkey.Ammonia, Isopropynol, Butyl Oxitol, etc. all react with TFT. You're eating the screen if you use it.

Turn the screen off (touching the screen when its on will break the back light...) then rub it with a wet cloth.

If you have fingerprints on it... which you shouldn't since *you shouldn't touch it when its on*... then you'll need to use LCD screen spray.

It's a laptop, you can't risk having the cleaner leaking into the internal electronics. For external monitors it's ok.

For my laptop, what I do is dampen toilet paper (not soak it) and wipe the screen clean.

i've had those plastic BB-pellets getting richoche'd onto my monitor (when it's on) and it's fine. either all your monitors are frail little girls, or they're tougher than you think.
i once spilled a drink over the keyboard, i just held it upside down for a day, and it was fine.

like my phone, i once went swimming with it :/
i just dried it and it was fine again.

call me an irresponsible bastard, but my stuff (aparently) can handle it.

Same here, except it went through the wash. All I did was rinse it out and bake it in the oven.

Yummm, oven roasted cell phones. Thanks for the recipe.

It will not, however, last its rated 60,000 on hours. You could drop it like -- 20-fold to 3,000.

Do NOT use glass cleaner on a LCD screen. Over time it will DAMAGE it.
