I was wondering if it is possible to make a tunnel under water. by which I mean a glass tunnel (or partially glass) so you can see the water from in the tunnel?
And if it is possible, how would I best do this?
Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure water planes encompass anything below them. If you don't plan on letting the play go to the surface, then you could just use some atmospheric effects, shaders and scenery stuff to imitate being underwater.

Is that how it worked on the delta halo level/regret?

Anyone remember what the effect was when your willy wonka elevator went below the water? I could have sworn that was below same actual water...

I've been wondering this very same topic for some time now, but was too busy and too lazy to do any thing.
and I agree with Kornman what of the wonka elevator on delta Halo? can't you do something like that, have a plane that acts like the surface of the water, and then under it do what Con said? would that work?

i'm curious, would portals help at all?
for instance, if i were trying this in ce, i'd simply add weather effects that look like fog and then just portal the tunnel. that may not work, but it is an idea to try. although, weather in h2vista... :[
i agree that there must be a way to get it to look like SP level...but i'm really not sure what they did. if not, the easiest way to make it look like ur under water is coloration and blurness/foggy looks. stealth's suggestion above seems best so far.

i remeber trying to suggest to masters for the Icy swamps map a way to try and change the gameplay of it.
i wanted him to Turn the Ice'd over lakes into unbreakable glass taht had speculars and cube maps ect to give it the effect of ice Yet still being able to see through it in sections.
then have some tunnels cacooned through the lakes for one of the teams to assault the other.
it would of basically been paths for people to take into the base's, be seen and yet be safe as well as they made there approach to the base.
i thought it was a cool idea but masters shot me down.
has anyone ever attempted something like this?
is it possible to create tunnels under ice, where people along the top could see the enemy approaching under the ground and yet not be able to harm them?

:/ I think so, cause unlike water, ice is soild water, you just make it into glass or something, and there it's done.

but can the glass be simulated to look like water... well?
+ will vehicles slide over it. ect.
but yeah i was a bit dissapointed he didnt look into it, i reckon it would of completely changed the way the map played, balanced the odds and tested out something that to my knowledge hasnt been done b4.

that would be totally possible, and not even all that hard to do.
