Someone over at Xbox Forums just bought a Premium in HMV (UK) on Friday and found that it had a HDMI port.
Retailers don't even realise that their Premiums have HDMI ports, and frankly neither do the customers. Microsoft aren't helping either, as their way of telling the customers it has a HDMI port is writing "HDMI" at the very bottom of the back of the box.

Not sure if it's available in US yet, but for UK this is new - so anyone in the UK who's looking to get a Premium, head over to HMV in Sheffield to get a free HDMI port.
To confirm, there's no price increase - exact same price as a usual Premium.

Didn't I post about this like forever ago when they were first announced?

Like seriously, how could you possibly miss the HDMI port when connecting up your Xbox?

My Halo 3 360 I'm buying today has one. :)

It's barely different than the Premium 360, just add a sick halo 3 shell, halo 3 themed headset, some exclusive pics and a theme for the dashboard and then jack the price up $150.

Except I'm letting people know they're actually IN STORES available to buy in the UK.
Sure, it was announced a while back, but everyone believed it'll take months for it to reach stores due to 360 supplies sitting in warehouses for up to a year in some popular stores.
Frankly nobody thought they'll get them in-stock this quickly and nobody knew of them going on shelves right now, so it isn't old...

Wow. For the longest time I actually confused DVI with HDMI...

It's only 50$ more, and has HDMI, h3 controller, and a play and charge kit, in addition to what you stated. Thank god I don't have to go through batterys anymore.

Old news - I've known it for a month (been out on Newegg for a while). I still have the first-gen 360 with no HDMI and the old heatsinks, but I take great pains to protect it (though that couldn't save my hard drive, which died 2 days ago...will get another one soon)
I'm thinking of buying a Core 360 once the 65nm process is also applied to the GPU, the source of more heat than the CPU. Assuming my current 360 isn't dead by then, I can use that Core as a backup. But then that cuts into my PS3 fund...(I'm buying the Sony system because I like it too).
Masters, you didn't already have the play-n-charge kit? Mine came with it (it also had 2 controllers - one wired, one wireless). Anyway I don't really benefit from wireless since my couch isn't that far away from my 55" HDTV (I can sit down and RECLINE while using the wired controller).
But yeah, the retailers don't seem to indicate the new HDMI. I went to Futureshop to buy some blank DVDs, and then I saw their 360s having the HDMI logo, but no indication of that addition.

Wow. For the longest time I actually confused DVI with HDMI...They're the same signal.
HDMI is a bit different shaped plug and carries 7.1 audio with it as well.
For the video component -- same digital signal. You can even buy a simple cord which converts from one to the other.

As a side note, both DVI and HDMI support HDCP-encrypted content, but to the best of my knowledge currently only HDMI devices use it frequently.

My TV only has DVI, is it possible to have the 360 do sound via comp. cables and video using a hdmi->dvi converter?

I don't think the DVI cables carry sound.

Yes, that's what I would suggest you do :)

I don't think the DVI cables carry sound. He's asking whether he can carry the video through an HDMI adapter and still use his component cables for sound.

Thanks for clarifying that.
