...sucks. No food or water until sundown tonight. I started yesterday at 8ish PM and I have to say the worst part is not drinking. Anywho, good luck to any other Jews who might be partaking in the fast!

Naw its ok, you eat your ass off on before and after.
Most of the adults I know drink coffee anyway, including my father who gets a headache when he goes without--which is pathetic, I know.
I manage without MAH COFFEE for this one day, any other day...uh, no.

Fuck not eating for a joke. my body couldnt handle it. my metabolism is lightning fast and i struggle to put on any weight no matter how terrible, greasy, and large my diet is. (been eating KFC about 20 times a month for the last 3 months, and i havnt put on any weight.... at all.)
i would literally eat my self away and drop 30 Kg's.
I'm with bacon on this one.
gimme some bacon.

I've come to terms with my religion, its more of my spiritual thing, my belief system is scientific-rationalism.

You know coffee dehydrates you faster right?
If people are going to fast, they need to at least take better care of their diets and bodies for the rest of the year they're stuffing themselves :|

Its not about the dehydration its about the energy loss. If I was dehydrated I would drink water, in my judaic sects interpretation human life is valued above all else. Seriously, I am usually one to doubt tradition and I have no easy time with authority figures, but I find that yom kippur is the most intelligent and moving holiday.
Oh and just in case this isn't understood, I basically follow no traditional rituals, classical reform judaism is the most lenient and basically follows only ethics and social justice.
Sure, lots of mindless following is done in religion, but many great thinkers have contributed to it's interpretation and expression: One would be a fool to see no value in religion and its millenia of literary parephenalia. After all you cannot deny that the entire state of the world you live in, good and bad, is a product of religion.

Yeah, in comparison to that, it was quite easy. Although one could make the argument that you have it easy because the days get shorter in the fall... ;-)
In any case, the worst part of the entire thing was lack of water. I could definitley go without food for a day or two, but I was really effected without the water.
