Say I just got Halo 2 vista, but when I tried to run it, it said that Live gaming failed to launch because another program is already using it, and reinstalling might solve the problem. However, I'm not running another program that uses Live and I already reinstalled a couple times, can someone help me?

Check processes list for things that could be using LIVE but not apparent normally.

Try running a Selective Startup.
And try disabling Windows Update through Start->Run->type "services.msc" (without the quotes)->Scroll down until you find Windows update->Right-Click it->Properties->Startup type->Disabled
You can turn it back on the same way any time.

I don't see Windows Update, just Liveupdate...and pretty sure that's for something else...
P.S. I tried the selective startup, didn't work, it still said LIVE Gaming failed to initialize.

You didn't find Windows Update in the Service Control Panel?
Check again...
Some program is conflicting with LIVE, and since some others have reported it being the Windows Updater, I'm going to guess that it applies to you too.

Are you still able to update windows??
Check the Task manager if there's a program called "TrustedInstaller.exe" running (you need to click the "Show processes from all users")

1) sorry about that MSN thing, I was doing hw and wasn't able to add you before you logged off.
2) there's this program called update from HP that I'm seeing in the taskmanager right now, any idea if that's the problem?
P.S. IM me the next time you get on, as I said, I was doing hw and didn't see your add request.
