Helly guys i have a pentium 4 2.4ghz bfg 7800 gs agp 1gb ram and windows vista home premium 32 bit. Whenever i play halo 2 online i always get lots of artifacts graphical ones my current forware driver is 163.71 any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

i dont know how to post screenshots artifacts i have though like black spots in coagulation and etc... random lines of color int he middle of the air could my artifacts be caused by the graphics driver?

1. If you installed using the TRAY & PLAY option, reinstall using the other option.
2. Get the latest Graphics Card Drivers, link (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx)
3.Make sure your computer's not oveheating.
Post a DxDiag.
Check the sticky.

Probably vista killed your GPU like it did mine 3 times. I have had similar artifacts from playing h2v. Check to see if you get any slight problems in other graphically intensive games and if it does, go file an RMA on your graphics card.

Did you try any of the suggested things?
And When I said post a dxdiag report, I meant the text file - did you even read the whole sticky?? I mean, I even put a link in my sig to make it easier for noobs to notice it....
*Sigh*
Well, I've seen this kind of thing happen before. Try lowering your resolution and make sure that nothing is forced on in your NVIDIA Control Panel (like AA or AF)

Oh and guys, I really doubt that he even knows what overclocking is.

Well then it's your computer.
Make sure it's not overheating. And buying new fans are cheap; I live in finland where everything's expencive and I got two extra fans for my computer for only 6€.

There are some drivers that do this, you might want to install some older drivers (the 158.45 are generally good nvidia drivers). or try some new beta drivers, which can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_163.71.html

system manufacturer seems fine, AWARD is just the bios on the board. I have an MSI board and my System Manufacturer says MSI (since MSI use their own bios).

I would definitely try installing older drivers if that doesnt help, your card may be faulty. Any other games five you this now?

ive found out what the problem is but theres no answer to it the sis accelerated graphics port uses a driver to function its just essentially a agp driver and the sis661fx chipset i have theres no vista drivers made yet so im pratically screwed and i built this computer myself pentium 4 2.4ghz abit sg72 2gb ram pc 3200 bfg 7800gs oc agp sound blaster audigy 2 and if you read from above posts i have this problem on vista with every single game and on xp im dual booting everything on windows xp runs flawlessley

Just my 2 pennies, abit isn't the best of choice, neither is a single core P4 for vista, audigy 2 ? why not a 4 ? (or better), try lowering graphics settings and (in case u might be) do not overclock (in some cases it might help to underclock), neither the CPU, mobo or anything on the videocard.

My experience is that artifacts appear when you are either overclocking/overheating or putting the wrong hardware together, like the fastest AGP card on an overaged mobo.

Right click the desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot > and untick "Enable Write Combining"

that whole bad cpu motherboard isnt making sense because my dad has a abit sg80dc and i have a abit sg-72 and his computer runs the game without any artifacts and we both have the same chipset the sis661fx and the same driver also. Unless its because i have a 7800gs agp and he has a 6800gs agp i have no idea and the game runs fine everything turned to the highest its just that its too hard to play with all the artifacts

Tried switching them around to see if the problem still remains in your computer or if it transfers to your fathers computer?
