I have just set up a Windows 2003 Server R2 SP2 (fresh load) to run as a dedicated H2 server. All patches for H2 and updates for windows installed.
When the game service is started the CPU usage is really low for several hours.
Then it jumps to 100% on one processor!
Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening ?

If I kill the game and restart the CPU usage drops to the really low value again. Then in a few hours it jumps back to 100%:confused2:

just restrict the server to run on only 1 core.

Task Manager>Process Tab>Right click on H2server.exe>Set Affinity

after the few hours, it should only use 50% on that one core...although thats very strange...

I followed the above advice and thought it had corrected the problem.
After a three day trip I returned to find the same high CPU usage
(H2server.exe using 100% of one core).
Had to reboot Server to regain control.

hmm thats strange... try doing a test to see if its one map causing the issues, or if its something else...

CPU usage problems continued on the AMD 64X2 server.
So I loaded Windows 2003 Server on an AMD 2500 Sempron (single cpu)
and use it for the dedicated server now. No more problems :)
If you can't fix it then FORMAT C:\

Did you ever find a resolution to this issue?
I am currently having the same issue with my server, which has an Opteron 165 that is overclocked to 2.4Ghz. I went so far as to reinstall Server 2003 and I still have the issue. Any assistance would be appreciated.

AMD has forums too, maybe you get some more info there..
