I mean, I can obviously find the Sleep option but not for Shutting Down or even Hibernating? What the hell?
(Err if you don't know what I mean, there should be an option to auto shutdown/hibernate after a set number of hours of idling.)

I DO remembering seeing the Hibernation option in the Power Settings for Vista...or maybe that's just me and past memories of XP.

CRAP. Help me out here? It might just be me and I'm overlooking a few categories...

Is there an auto shutdown/hibernation option in Vista?

Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Power Options. On the left there should be something that says "change when the computer sleeps" or something like that.

Start > Click the arrow to the right of the power button.

If you want your PC to automatically go to "sleep" it's in the above area.

Is sleep the same thing though (I kept thinking sleep = stand by of some sort, my mistake). Or is it the new type of setting for the PC that Microsoft introduces through Vista?

Hibernation turns your computer off, but saves your current desktop and such so when it turns back on it is the same.

I know that part. I always use hibernation instead of shutting down unless I'm away for more than a day.

But WHAT is Sleep? Is it StandBy with a new name?

And I remembered that all my "auto shutdowns" came from either a download manager that I used to use or uTorrent. Shucks.

idk, from what I've seen there's off and there's sleep. Sleep keeps the RAM on so you can go right back to where you were.
