None of my custom maps are working and some of the ones i downloaded are not working. I'm just wondering why. After the last update i've been having trouble with them.

I do have my maps named. I do have all gametypes available i believe, maybe except for assault.

Is there some trick to make them playable like re-exporting the ass file. I havent tried that. I have re-compiled and re-packaged and still no go. The funny thing is i can start the game with the original .exe files and my maps and others i downloaded do show up.

Some help please.

Had no problems like that, is some program (uac/defender/3rd party) blocking files perhaps?

some sort of incomparability between the game version and the map version, that's all I can conclude.

Do any of you have that "extreme climb" map? I know thats another map that isnt working ingame now. I'm just wondering if its just my system that has this particular problem. Actually i know of one other person that has the same problem as me. Did that last update also update the halo modding tools?

Not the last one but the previous one did update the tools. And where's that extreme climb map to be found? I can have a peek if it works, although i guess it will.

If it does work for you I have no idea my problem. It would be greatly appreciated if you would check. Thank you....

Well i guessed wrong, that one does not show up. Which is weird, other custom maps, either made by me or by others a while ago (at least before the HEK-tools update) do show up.....

I recently bought a raptor hd therefore i had to install everything from scratch. And after i did that, that is when the problem first occured. I know now it is because of the update because if i start the game before the updates all maps show up. After the update only half of my custom maps show up.

Well i still have a few maps that wont still play but i got mine to work.

All i did was "ofcorse save my entire data and tags folders", uninstall the map editor, delete all the files left over in the map editor folder.

Than reinstalled map editor. And what actually helped me i think is i downloaded the original halo 2 vista patch and installed it http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo2/ .

Than i played the game and it prompted me to install the other patches.

You might be able to just install that patch and it will work but thats what i did above.

Last I heard, the recent update created an incompatibility between the updated game and older custom maps. Not sure if that's true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. The only thing I can suggest is to back up your custom maps and try to download them again from in-game.

I was probably one of the first people that noticed this problem. One way i was getting the custom maps to load was starting halo 2 with the 3 original exe files. After that you can put your updated ones back in and it would work. But thats only a temporary fix, because when you try to delete your map and re-package it you wont see it again. I dont know if it puts a tag on your map file but that was my problem.

But recently i did exactly what i described on my last post it fixed it. Just try it, i'm sure it'll fix your problem.

Remember, i'm sure you wanna save your tags and data folders to overwrite with the re-installed ones.

And most importantly, get the update from the url i posted above and install before starting halo.
