I cannot continue this because I am needed for another project. The newest version is not optimised and it lags. The Current source (WME) will be released, the other source that works but corrupts will not be released(sorry). Source Code (http://blog.allenthinks.com/downloads/ScapSource.rar)



So many people complain that Fraps does a good job if your pc does not lag like crazy. I am creating a small little app that will do the same thing but not take all the framerate out of your pc. This software is called Scap(Screen Capture). So far the beta can only take snapshots with a push of a button. Soon there will be Button presses that you can activate and deactivate the capture.

So far the closed beta only drops my framerate around 2-4FPS, When I record with Fraps it drops 20-40FPS. Big Improvement :cool:

I am currently working on the Video Compression because when I try to compess something over 2 Minutes in real-time (sure it uses more CPU usage but what the heck, smaller file :party::woop:) it gets corrupted and I get the "Video File Cannot Be Played" From Windows Media Player, Plays Fine in VLC Media Player.

I hope you all like where this is going; and did i mention its FREE! without any type of "Branding" www.fraps.com (http://www.fraps.com) gets annoying when your tring to record ^^

Wow this is pretty epic. The only thing I see it lacks is key bindings like in fraps.

Key Bindings = Working on, Have gotten Key imput from where ever you are(you can make tutorials with it also ^^)

[EDIT] Im working on settings so you dont have to change PNG/JPEG/TIFF Over and over each time the app starts, Also im working on the Imput from your own keys (so far F1-11 Set)

Anyways, I'm curious to know what resolution and framerate your Scap can record at to get only 2-4fps loss.

Oh and you better make good use of multi threading.

So far I am back to square one, I have released only 3 copies of the video captureing one. It works fine but over 2Minutes it corrupts says WMP, But all of my friends use VLC. So im going to scrap what I had so far for video and work on one that doesent corrupt.

I am here to tell you good news and bad news.

The good news is that It will most likely be released within the week.
The bad news is that it will have to use WME. All of my attempts on making this work without WME have corrupted the file. A download will be put with the app so you will not have to download it seperately. That is all...
