im looking to build a new pc and ive managed to find all of the parts for a very reasonable price.

Processor: 2.40ghz Dual Core
RAM: 4GB
HD: 500GB
DVD Drive: 20X RW
Motherboard: Asus Core2Duo Motherboard
PSU: 700W
Graphics Card: 640MB Asus 8800GTS
Total Price: £628.76

im think i found myself a good deal. but if there is anything better pls tell me
(ps i plan to overclock processor the speed is undecided although)

4 gigs is useless unless you have a 64 bit OS. After 3 gigs of RAM, my machine gets BSODed every 24 hours or so.

Don't even think of running a 32-bit OS on 4 gb of ram. You'll BSOD every day.

Microsoft not making a 64-bit OS will be almos tas stupid as selling a 32-bit version of Vista. Microsoft is beign left behind, 64-bit is awesome. Ubuntu has 64-bit, all its programs work in it too, the next Mac OS is goign to be 64-bit only. Microsoft is going to be a generation behind in software when 64-bit does become mainstream.
According to the hardware advancement formula. Hardware doubles in power/performances the same price as what is replaces 18 months later. So 1 GB is the standard OEM manufactures use right now in Vista computers, and memory keeps getting cheaper. Its standard to have 2 GB in a gmaing computer. The move to 1 GB standard was around 6 months ago at dell, so by the start of 2009, 2 GB will be in a standard home computer, and 4 GB will be in a standard gaming computer. The 64-bit move is inevitable, all Pentium 4's must die, welcome the x86_64 era. Its already started.

I <3 64-bit Ubuntu 7.10, 15&#37; peformance increase over 32-bit, with same amount of memory in it.

Hmmm my friend got his 64-bit version of Vista a while ago and there haven't been too many stability screw ups aside from the usual Windows slow down after a while.

Actually, they used every precaution to make Windows Vista 64bit the most stable version ever.

1. Kernel Protection
2. Drivers HAVE to be signed (faulty drivers were #1 cause for BSOD)

and so much more...go onto MSDN and read ;)

64bit is the future no matter what, they just need more support. :)

Don't get that graphics card, the new 8800GT is coming out, and outperforms the 8800GTS in all benchmarks so far. Its $250 for the 256mb version, and comes out on the 30th, I think. nVidia is just cranking out new cards.

lolz now im using a 2.66ghz core2
and a 8800GTX (yay)
and reduced to 2gb ram (might get more for crysis)

Getting the E6750? Make sure your mobo supports 1333 FSB. ARe you going for DDR2 or DDR3 ram? I would wait about the GTX though, they are going to have a revision soon to 65nm.
