3ds max help

Some times this happens when i go to change to like the move tool it doesnt come up the move tool im talking about is those three little arrows different colors, but i mean i can still move anything i select but its just in one direction and those arrows never pop up any clue whats wrong?

ohhh x does that? lol that happens to me occasionally, and I just restart max. damn autodesk for mapping every possible key combination to a command.
