It is, but Windows allocates at least the top 1GB for reserved addresses, so most 32-bit Windows systems are limited to around 3.2 GB, depending upon the hardware.

Is it the same in 64-Bit were it uses memory(ram?) and puts it towards your video memory? because I have and X1950 Pro 512Mb and it shows the total size of 1279Mb is this the same in 64-Bit?

32bit XP Home and Vista Business are what I have installed right now, but I have XP Pro 64bit and Server 2003 Enterprise 32bit as well.
I'm going to install XP Pro 64 sometime around Christmas because I have a program that is 64bit only.

That is Windows... 2 to the power of 32 = 4294967296 = about 4 gigs. 2 to the power of 64 = 18446744073709551616 not even going to do the math.

32-Bit XP Home Edition
32-Bit Vista Ultimate
I use 32-Bit for maximum compatibility with my applications. I dual Boot these OS's from two different HDDs.

The way you role -- LARP o.o
As it stands right now though -- 32 Bit Vista... probably will pair that up with Linux 64 when I sort through my harddrive and run cleanup.

32 bit Vsita for now.
A quick Question...
If I reinstall to 64 bit(managing to find drivers for everything) will I notice any kind of performance boost?
Games I play
H2v and shadowrun
Games that use Valve's source engine.

32 bit. Question, what's the difference? Is one faster than the other?
alby

64Bit is faster, but vista 64 has a few compatibility issues with some programs. It also can have more ram then 32bit. A lot more.
Edit: 64Bit can handle up to 16 exabytes.

Yes, that's the top of the 64-bit address range, but if I remember correctly in Windows 64-bit you're limited to 16 terabytes or 64 terabytes or something like that.

I'm pretty sure that's your buffer. You have a 768MiB aperture size

Yes, that's the top of the 64-bit address range, but if I remember correctly in Windows 64-bit you're limited to 16 terabytes or 64 terabytes or something like that.128GB of RAM, 16 TB of swap space.
Home Basic and Home Premium are restricted to 8 and 16GB respectively though.
