when i first installed the game on my computer, it was running great on maxed out settings on 1280x1024.

Then i started getting addicted to CSS, played that, now im into gears again.

But now its laggy.

its smooth when im in spectater, or standing stil, but when i move or look around, it locks up for 1 second (maybe less), then goes smooth for 3 seconds, then locks up again.

I tried turning the settings all the way to low, and cleaned the CD, and its still doing it.

PC Specs (my new one :-D)

Intel duo 2.8 Ghz 800Mhz FSB
1.5 GB of RAM
ATI HD 2600XT 512mb onboard
Windows XP SP2

Suggestions?

Any background programs running that might be stealing CPU power?

I'll bet after playing all that CS it clogged up your video memory? :/

Can Source really clog VRAM like that? How would one go about unclogging it?

defragment your harddrive. and check your RAM.
seems to me it's a problem of it having to read in everything all over again every time.

I was just guessing. That may or may not be the case.

Uhhh...what?

Does this only happen for GoW, or does it happen for other games?

Have you tried reinstalling it?

It's the dreaded stuttering issue that everyone is getting.
I'm guessing that you've already tried the latest patch and it didn't work?

I also have this laggy problem with GoW, the only thing i can think is the problem is the resolution I play at 1680x1050 but UT3 runs perfect all on highest, my computer specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+
4Gb DDR2 6400
X1950Pro 512mb
Windows XP X64 SP2

Ive checked to see if there are any other processes running but i got that down to 36. I will try defragmenting but i haven't had windows installed that long only 2 weeks or so.
Could it be a problem with the Live that is implemented into the game? H2v was laggy, GoW is laggy.
