I'm assuming you built this yourself when I say this, but if Vista randomly shuts down, it's your fault. Check your hardware, make sure nothing is overheating, do some research into your power supply and see if the brand has a record of irregular wattage, and list all the programs/drivers you tried to install.

If you bought it already built with the operating system installed, go ahead and do the hardware check again then search for things that could have been installed without your permission. OEMs have a history of putting crap that destabilizes the OS. If you did buy it through an OEM, it wouldn't hurt to wipe the hard drive to zero or random patterns to remove 100% of the registry (the windows formatting doesn't do it for anti-piracy reasons) and reinstall it from scratch. It might be a bitch with that TB drive, but you brought it upon yourself :p.

That is why i bought the new computer b/c of that. And its the OS i had nothing installed and it still did that. it not a powersupply problem b/c i once played CS Source from 5pm-5am est. And it only does it early in the morning which is weird.

If you were running Vista x64 I can tell you first hand that if you don't have a newer bios it will be finicky. Try updating that and seeing if that fixes your issue.

Unless you are comfy with XP or whatever you are using :P.

Already got the new bios for my board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131013

And when i bought my vista it nvr came with a 64bit which i called about that and they told me they cant send me a 64bit copy so im stuck with 32bit for now. And at work we dont have to many 64bit vista users so we dont have any cds for it.

Tis the season :).

But xp never done that with me. The worst thing it did was lock up windows explorer. While Vista just randomly shuts down with no reason at all.
