First of all, hi. I've lurked for a few months, so I can recognize some of you.

Anyway, I'm working on a campaign mod for experimenting purposes, and I've inserted two custom weapon sounds for the Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle. I recorded, compiled, and inserted them exactly the same way (ex. "tool sounds sounds\newar ogg 1") and tagged their gain modifiers and such at exactly the same level, but when I fire the sniper rifle in-game, the sound stops any looping music that was playing at the time and resets it back to the beginning of the currently playing permutation. The AR, on the other hand, works fine.

Both recorded volume levels are about the same too, so I'm kind stumped on this one.

Thanks in advance.

(And if you wouldn't mind, keep the "ZoMG CAMPAIN mOd lol unoriginal lolol" comments at a minimum.)

Weapons sounds are meant to be compiled with xbox compression - tool sounds directory1\directory2 xbox 1. Also, be sure that the sound tag itsself matches properly with other comparable sound tags, those values can change a lot.

Also, hurrrrr for a new member who knows how to use English properly.

I'm getting another error through the xbox compression. Here's tool's readout:

C:\Program Files\Halo Custom Edition>tool sounds sounds\newsr xbox 1
Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
Importing sounds\newsr
MM: 'Couldn't open stream.' (ACMERR_NOTPOSSIBLE#512)

Any idea what that means, or better yet, how to fix it?

Also, I was using proper spelling and grammar long before I joined here a few months ago. I'm just special that way. :v

Unfortunately, I don't know how you'd go about fixing that. I've gotten that error myself a few times, and all I can thing of is checking your sound compression settings - weapons fire sounds should be 22.500 khz, mono.

Gah, this won't work for anything.

I resaved it as a 22.050 kHz sound, and it's giving me the same error message. I've looked at Halo's original weapon fire sound tags, and they show the same compression method as my new ones, with the only difference being the fact that they actually work.

I've used OGG for other non-ambient sounds, though, and they seem to work fine. It's just the SR.

Try saving your .wav file from an other program ?

Oh, welcome by the way.

Of all the programs I have, Sound Recorder actually has the best success rate, but I went ahead and tried the rest. Still no luck.

EDIT: Bah, now my sound file is fuxed too. I think I'll just stop here before I break anything else. Thanks for your help, guys.

Can you upload your files somewhere so we can take a look at them ?

Just make sure your music is at higher quality than the sounds, or the same.

Be sure the source sound is PCM (uncommpressed).

Also, do you have the XBox ADPCM codec installed?
