Create a shader for your ammo meter in guerilla, take the settings, or copy the shader tag from that of the assault rifle/flamethrower. Change the "numeric counter limit" to whatever your weapon's ammo capacity is. I will refer to this shader as example.
In 3dsmax, bring up the material editor. Create however many subobjects in a new multimaterial as how many digit places the quantity of ammo your weapon holds. (ie: If your weapon holds 200 rounds, you would create 3 subobjects, as the numeral 200 contains 3 digits)
Name the first subobject example0. (recall that I am referring to the shader you created as example, change it to whatever your shader name is). Name the second example1, the third example2, etc.
The one called example0 is the counter in the ones digit. The one called example1 is the counter in the tens digit, and so on.
Now that you have your materials set up, just apply them to whatever geometry in the scene, export and compile as usual.
EDIT: Also, if you want something like a covenant carbine ammo meter, you'll have to get more creative. ;)
