Gearbox Software. I don't think the latter question needs to be answered.

I'm pretty sure they just released a kit, and then changed the crazy header/magic/doo-hicky-ma-bob in the acceptable map files.

There came a time in Halo and Marathon's life when they decided to have children.
So they got together in bed one night, and Halo REALLY loved Marathon, so Halo inserted its penis into Marathon's vagina. This is why your penis gets longer, so it can fit in there and be pleasurable to the woman. Halo then went in and out until they got really, really happy, and 9 months later, baby Halo CE was born!

Balls.

I believe Halo was inspired by Marathon. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Gearbox made Halo CE.

"How" did they make it is a very vague and general question. Obviously, they used a computer and some expert programmers. If you're asking what scripting they used, what tools, etc, it's a bloody long story that will never be completely revealed because the developers don't want people messing around too much with their copyrighted stuff.

In essence, you're asking how the game Halo was made in the first place. Halo CE is just Halo 1 with modified scripting that allows it to run custom user content. You can insert custom content into Halo PC (not CE) but it isn't as simple as dragging and dropping files into folders like it is with Halo CE.

Stupid questions, stupid thread. But hey, at least you aren't making 20 threads about this question...

you may be. halo was originally going to be a real time strategy game. i don't think marathon took part in the original creation. but it may have influenced some of their ideas after it became an FPS

Bungie includes marathon references just because they're Bungie, but that's about it.

I completely doubt it.
Why? I wouldn't be surprised.

Netcode was made with a piece of string.

Pretty sure it was C++. Direct X. Didnt it use the Blam Engine?

How was halo CE made?you see, when a man and a underage girl claiming to be of age get together...

EDIT: for seriousness, C and DirectX. BLAM! is the codename for Halo, which is why I like to refer to it as the blam engine instead of just the halo engine (it also sounds more professional since its evolved so much and was also used for Stubbs the zombie). But when it comes to publicizing, its just easier to say "lulz, powered by the halo engine"
