this is starting to bug me whilst i model. If i hit the back button, the program lags and takes at least a second to perform the action. If i hit the back button too many times, it crashes. Stats on my comp in the corner.

we're not talking any polygons, we're talking the program itself is being nonresponsive. I can render 6 MILLION TRIANGLES before LAGGING. its not anything regarding rendering.

When you press the back button, all the vertecies need to be processed or reset, that can take some time if you have a lot of them. Polygons count affects more than rendering time.

Didn't he just say there were no polygons? Seems like a memory leak or something. I have the same problem with one of my other programs. Did the problem also just spontaneously appear one day?

Is it only 3ds Max doing it?

For me, it's vegas doing it. Might be a virus or something. Spyware could slow it down too. I'd find it odd affecting only certain programs though.
